Japan Getting Xenoblade, The Last Story, Metroid: Other M On Wii This Year

By Spencer . January 28, 2010 . 10:50pm

The Last Story isn’t another name for Last Window. Nintendo has it listed as a Wii game underneath Metroid: Other M which is slated for summer 2010 in Japan.

If you haven’t been keeping up with the news, The Last Story was first discovered as a trademark, which Nintendo registered in Japan, Europe, and finally North America. Nintendo’s skeleton release calendar notes The Last Story is an upcoming Nintendo published Wii game scheduled for this year.

Xenoblade is another new name on Nintendo’s list. However, it appears Xenoblade is the Japanese name name for Monado: Beginning of the World. The Japanese release schedule notes Xenoblade is coming to North America this year, but doesn’t list Monolith Soft’s RPG, Monado: Beginning of the World. The English calendar has Xenoblade for Japan and Monado for North America.

Sin & Punishment 2 and the Nintendo DSi XL still don’t have firm release dates for North America. The list states both products are scheduled for Q1 2010. Picross 3D has a more vague TBA timeline.

Metroid: Other M, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Golden Sun DS are also slated for release in North America this year.

  • OK, I’m calling it: Last Story is the final chapter in the Ashley/Kyle story where the two of them finally meet. While it could be something else, chances of this are high.

Also…XenoBlade? That’s…going to provoke some interesting reactions.

Interesting idea…That would be pretty awesome. If it has nothing to do with either of them I’m going to be pissed though, haha.

  • No speculations on Last Story, but Xenoblade, plus the fact that it’s from Monolith, does indeed provoke some interesting ideas. Not sure how I feel about it, though.

If Xenoblade is Monado, it’s obvious that they’re just trying to cash in on the Xeno name. The only games Monolithsoft has made that have ever sold over 100,000 copies in Japan are Xenosaga I-III.

Well that’s not true, so did Soma Bringer, SRW: OG Saga, Namco x Capcom, and Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans. Actually DBZ: AotS even outsold Xenosaga Episode III. Can you really completely blame them for trying to get Xeno fans attention after Soma Bringer just managed to get over 100k? It would’ve sold a lot more if fans knew Takahashi and Soraya Saga were involved.

I firmly stick to my bet that The Last Story is a epic RPG Final Fantasy-style. Now I just need to time-travel forward to the time that Metroid: Other M and Mario Galaxy 2 is released in EU. Sigh…

    Xeno… saga
    oh wait it’s blade =x

Golden Sun DS is slated for this year? Hmm, I can’t quite remember if there was any information about it other than the initial 2 minute trailer that had me celebrating off the walls.

I must poke around on the internet, see if there’s anything new.

“Q1 2010” may mean fiscal year (April-June) and not calendar year (Jan-March). That’d make more sense for S&P2 and DSi XL.

    • Your right it would, but the schedule says “Q1 2010 CY” as in calendar year. They’re rough dates anyway, but I guess Nintendo still has time to announce a March release for both of those.
