Another Sunsoft Game Coming To Virtual Console, Telenet Titles Further Away

By Spencer . February 5, 2010 . 4:30pm

imagePosting on the Sunsoft Games message board, Vic Ireland mentioned another Sunsoft game is on deck to be re-released for Virtual Console.

Unfortunately, Ireland didn’t name it so we’re waiting for a press release to find out which game it is. I’m hoping for Sunsoft’s Batman, which probably won’t happen due to rights issues. Aero the Acrobat or Journey to Silius seem more likely.

When will we see something from the huge library of Telenet games Sunsoft now owns? “The first Telenet one is one or two more releases after this,” said Ireland. “Takes time to get through the Nintendo process.”

Thanks to this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulbotKa5LnM the first thing that I can think when I saw the preview photo was the #9

I didn’t know Sunsoft was behind that Batman game! Funny, just yesterday I was listening to a remix of the first stage’s theme for about an hour (now I find myself doing that again, thanks!).
I’m surprised I never played this game, yet. Not too many people seem to know about it or at least don’t bring it up when discussing Batman games.

Yeah matty, you should check out the Sunsoft board if you haven’t already… Vic[-tor Ireland, former head of Working Designs,] has always been really nice and accessible, just like the guys in charge over at Aksys…

I browse it from time to time. It had seemed to die down a little after the initial ride that occurred when they announced their resurrection to the world.

I’m kinda holding out for more word on PSN, honestly. The fact titles from Sunsoft and Telenet are making their way to VC is good and all but I have to also think about myself too. :P

That’s cool to know. I wasn’t aware of Working Designs while they were active, but I liked what they were doing as publishers and especially Vic’s open statements on the industry.
That said, the only thing I could think of bringing up would be the Gaijinworks’ website since a while back they said they were going to open it “soon”. What’s going on with that, Vic? :-P Maybe the forums are better suited for what they have planned, who knows. BTW, did anyone win that Blaster Master contest? I really wish I had a camera other than my cellphone and DSi…

Also, not to go off on a tangent, but the composer of the Batman: Streets of Desolation remix I mentioned earlier finally made the track available!

I’m interested in seeing some ye olden RPG’s from Sunsoft. I think I might have tried that Batman back when I didn’t know any other consoles but Nintendo. “Takes time to get through the Nintendo process”, sounds like hard work, would like to know what makes the process tough to handle.

Blaster Master: Overdrive. Seems to be a legit, this-gen, sequel for 1000 Wii points. Comes out on 2/8.

I would LOVE to play that old Batman game! Once more, I have been reminded that my miniscule NES library was unintentionally filled with great games. I didn’t even know what Metroid was when I bought it, but I thought the cover art was cool.
