imageScout attack! We captured a batch of Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 screens from Square Enix.

Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 is a follow up to Dragon Quest Monsters Joker. So far, it looks similar to the previous game with more monsters. Counting the giant monsters, Joker 2 has over 300 to collect.

The other key feature is live online battles. Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 also keeps track of the best players through leaderboards. Square Enix’s press release said Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 supports 1-8 players, but still haven’t detailed how.

Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 slimes stores on April 28.

Wauw, that protagonist really is a mean-looking Kid Goku. Not sure if I’m interested in this game though, didn’t fall in love with the first one. The live online battles might help soften me up though.

    • that protagonist really is a mean-looking Kid Goku

I knew this would be in the comments before even looking. So true.

Heh, screenshot 7 even has ShenLong int it.

      • No, you’re all wrong, he looks like Super Saiyan 4 Gotenks with short hair or Super Saiyan 4 kid Goku with short hair.

    • No way, he’s definitely more of a Shu from Blue Dragon. A mean-looking Shu, that is.

  • Cool, even if they all look alike, i always like the protagonists the dragon ball creator makes xD

    Hey, here’s another Goku comment.

  • Jaxx-Leviathan

Honestly, this character and Shu of Blue Dragon both follow the Toriyama “Goku template”. Big and wild black hair, hard-lined eyes(when serious, comedic-relief eyes when normal), semi-round face and head-size almost disproportionally bigger than the rest of the body. Other templates include (based on Dragon Ball) Trunks template (flat, longhaired, split front bangs, slim face, hard-lined eyes), Nappa template (bald/mohawk, hard-lined eyes, prominent chin, semi-square face, crooked nose and always heavy and muscular body build), comedic-relief template (includes Krillin, Puar, Oolong, to some extend Kid Goku and others)(big, round open-lined eyes, usually small-to-medium body build, round face, other unnatural features like fur or missing nose) and others. The point to this rambling is that almost all Toriyama main protagonists follow the wild, black hair, determined eyes and round face from the Goku template.
By the way, this list is based on my own opinions and studies, this is not official Akira Toriyama or Dragon Ball data.

Does it even matter? I think by now everyone knows that Toryiama’s so-called talent entails drawing the same character designs for decades. I lost all respect for him once I woke up in the 90’s and realized he was never going to try and do anything different.

  • GOOD NEWS!!! I loved the first one! Got so addicted to it, that i made a 24-hour marathon to finish that game! Played it for the first time, and made nothing but playing it! This one looks even better.
Any details of an English version yet?
