How About Street Fighter IV Portable?

By Spencer . February 12, 2010 . 3:14am

imageA fan requested a PSP version of Street Fighter IV. Surprisingly, “Nakky” Shiozawa, Assistant Producer, said she would like one too. According to Shiozawa, other Capcom staff share the same opinion. This is in no way confirmation of Street Fighter IV Portable, but if Capcom is interested perhaps they will make it one day.

In the Q&A session, Shiozawa also notes there is too much content in Super Street Fighter IV to release it as a downloadable update, says there could be an arcade version, and points out other Final Fight cameos.

    • Let’s start with IV first…

      • I was so excited that my mind was thinking of the amazing future possibilities. Might be how all those one’s got in there too >_>

  • I could see it happen, the PSP can be a graphical beast if used properly. The Dpad is questionable however…

Only on the PSP-1000, though, since I think they’re sunken in a little more than they should. Every other version have D-Pads that feel really good.

The only PSP’s I’ve experienced with a crappy d-pad are the 1000 models. The rest are quite fine.

yea dood, i’m tired of playing alpha max on my psp….

Something like the Street Fighter series really makes me wish that Sony came up with two extra face buttons on their default controllers.

I remember seeing a prototype Playstation controller with the regular face buttons, and with two more called + and – arranged with the other four in the Street Fighter fashion, which would actually fit with their button-naming trend.

In fact, I’ll just Google it and show you guys what it looked like:

If a PSP version becomes a reality, I might think about modding a PSP into an arcade stick with the LCD screen on top to make it a stand-alone arcade on the go. I’m never going back to playing fighters on a d-pad.

  • GamerKT

Street Fighter IV more likely for the PSP than the Wii? That’s such a load of BS.

    • daizyujin

Not really. The PSP is doing much better in Japan than in the US and portable gaming is on the rise. Capcom may just think that the PSP’s portable nature would make it outsell a Wii version.

  • I’m sure it would be 100x better than the iPhone version… crappy D-pad and all.
