imageAnother version of Resident Evil 4 is on the market and this one is designed for everyone who hasn’t seen what the Las Plagas can do to farmers.

Resident Evil 4 Mobile Edition for Beginners is on the iPhone app store for 99 cents. The game has a beginner’s level difficulty mode and four other levels: normal, professional, hell, extreme for players to tackle after learning the basics. Capcom is selling Resident Evil 4 Mobile Edition for Beginners in two chapter scenario packs, each one costs up to $1.99 for two chapters.

In addition to extra levels, Capcom is selling an item that automatically recovers Leon’s health for 115 yen ($1.25). The helpful item acts as an instant extra life or pay-per-continue.

Damn Capcom, don’t you guys think you are milking RE4 to death? I mean, I love it too, and it was a revolutionary game for it’s time, but c’mon…

Wow, adopting an arcade approach (money for continues) on the iPhone? I want to cry foul but that is just so ingeniously diabolical.

i doubt it’s a disposable item. i imagine it opens up the ability for regular use. arcade pricing has not worked out well outside of the arcade. if it is a disposable item, then i’m incredibly disgusted.

I wouldn’t count on that, as a way to both fight piracy and pad revenue (since games are so cheap), iPhone developers have taken a page from “Free to Play” MMORPGs, which nickel and dime you to death (well, $5 and $10 you, really).

i hardly see how this would be an anti-piracy measure. people who pirate the game are certainly not going to lament the loss of a health item, and they are very likely to find ways to cheat in the game regardless.

I would’ve actually jumped on it, if it had been a kind of shooting gallery type game, or rail game. I’m just not impressed with faux-game-pad-screen type games which tend to be clumsy in control.

Why is there a picture of Nemesis?

      I know… This had me wondering too…

      BECAUSE HE IS ANGRY!

I honestly didn’t think Capcom could ever surprise me again with their business model. I guess I forgot about the nine or ten other versions of this game…
