N3II: Ninety-Nine Nights Brings “Titanic Boss Battles” To North America

By Spencer . February 17, 2010 . 12:13pm

Konami officially announced N3II: Ninety-Nine Nights (that’s the official name) for North America. Like Japan, we’re getting the sequel to Ninety-Nine Nights this spring.

N3II five playable characters and tells the story from five perspectives. In addition to humans, you’ll hack and slash through waves of enemies as elves and goblins. Each stage ends with a “Titanic Boss Battle” where players face a behemoth and have to slay it by targeting weak points. Another addition is two player co-op, a feature sorely missed in the original, with online leaderboards that rank the best teams around the world.

Well, I know what not to buy this spring. Saying that I didn’t like the first one would be a huge understatement.

Admittedly it does look pretty stylish, though.

I believe a new team is handling this one. It actually looks to be very good.

Yeah, I forgot about that. Uhm… I hope they release a demo, so I can judge by myself.

I didn’t like the first one either, N3 was actually my 2nd 360 game after Blue Dragon, but at the time I was playing on a 23″ LCD, so maybe it wasn’t the best setup for hack n slash, so I didn’t finish w/ even one character.

The blood on camera actually looks pretty cool, make that way cool, actually nothing is cooler than blood in pre-rendered FMV, we rarely have those, like Zackt in Crisis Core and Cloud (on ACC Blu-ray), just make things more believable, instead of feeling like a Disney flick where nobody bleeds. blood on the sword, menacing..

This game needs some color. Seriously why do all the games that target a western audience use bland color schemes? I see red, grey, black, brown red, gunmetal, but not much else. I would say “this can’t be as bad as the first” but I been proven wrong so many times. Im not going to write it off but Im not getting my hopes up either.
