If you’ve been dreaming about a Nintendo DS with 93% larger screens compared to a Nintendo DS Lite, the DSi XL is the system for you.

Nintendo announced the Nintendo DSi’s larger and wider sibling will be in stores on March 28. The latest variation will retail for $189.99 and is pre-loaded with: Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters, Brain Age Express: Math, Photo Clock, the Nintendo DSi Browser, and Flipnote Studio. The total value of all of the applications is $18 since the last two are freebies. Pick it up in classy Wine Red… I mean burgundy or brown.

America’s Test Kitchen: Let’s Get Cooking and Wario Ware: D.I.Y., a make your own microgame creator, will be released on the same day.

Picross 3D, a picture logic game where you chip away cube, arrives in store about a month later on May 3. Afterwards, Nintendo has 100 Classic Books, a portable collection of literature with works from Shakespeare, Jane Austen, and Mark Twain, on their schedule set for release on June 14.

Looking forward to this. So glad I didn’t jump on the DSi wagon straight away, this version seems much more interesting to me.

Just don’t be surprised if the DS2 gets announced sometime this year

Wow, way to piss on his parade…

      • Jaxx-Leviathan

I’m sure it does, but even then I still want a DSi-version handheld. Besides, if I were to wait for DS2 I’d go insane, I have a consumer-craving to satisfy you know.

Im gonna buy my Momma a NDSi XL for her Birthday. :I

Last year I was foolish enough to be nice for once and let my sister borrow my DS Lite. Good thing, too, because I actually want one of these.

Well, Im not biting again. I bought the DSi around the holidays and got the awesome metallic blue one (Mario bundle). I only rebuy or upgrade based on if there is a new color I want, and I seriously doubt Nintendo is going to make a color nicer then Metallic Blue. Their color selection has been quite lame for the DS (I miss the GBC days) and Burgundy and Bronze sure aren’t going to sway me.

Here’s hoping for more drab colours in 2010… I vote for puke green, diarrhea brown, and dried blood…

Same here, if I didn’t get the Ace Attorney Investigation Blue Badger DSi, I would definitely get this now, a bigger screen means much more to me… but now there’s no way I’m getting a 4th DS, damn you Nintendo…

I like the burgundy one. But the brown one… brown is the worst colour in all iterations. But then again, the colour is the least of my worries regarding consoles.

  • JeremyR

Ouch, a little expensive. But could have been worse, I guess. I need to get one of these things…

  • Vino (Tim N)

I like the wine red color. Though I think I’ll wait to a good bundle to come out in the future.

I was kinda hoping this would beat HG/SS to the punch like it did in the UK. I don’t have a DS period as it is.

I guess I can always wait a couple of weeks after HG/SS launch but still it’s a matter of holding off that bites.
