There’s A Chance Coropata Could Come To North America

image Remember the Nintendo DS game that looks like The Incredible Machine, but stars a curious girl who chases butterflies? Sure you do, it’s called Coropata in Japan, but may have a different title if it gets picked up by a publisher in the West.

Developer LukPlus is at Game Developer’s Conference with a Coropata poster next to their meeting room where they’re courting potential publishers. This doesn’t mean Coropata is locked for a Western release, but LukPlus is shooting for one.

Honestly, there’s only one publisher I can imagine licensing Coropata — Aksys. They were bold enough to pick up Cho Aniki Zero and Deathsmiles so anything is possible. Also, Aksys happens to be at GDC and they’re on the list of publishers shopping for games to license.

Aksys published Theresia, too, which I quite liked. They have good taste. :)

Have you tried the Jake Hunter game? Not the first release, the Memories of the Past one. Theresia was great, a nice little nod to games like Shadowgate and Uninvited, but also had frustrating parts from that era like in Déjà Vu where telling what you have to do next to progress is a complete crapshoot.

This could fit either Aksys or Natsume very well. Hope they find someone.

rar, I’d like to see this published, it’s like the incredible machine but cute which I have no objections to!

  • Jaxx-Leviathan

I dare hoping this’ll get localized, think it’ll do pretty well in the west. I’d buy it.

I really do hope this comes over. I was tempted to import this, I just couldn’t find a listing on play-asia.

This looks adorable on top of looking like a fun puzzle game.
The style reminds me of Kumatanchi, too, but it sounds like this might actually have a chance of being released outside Japan.

Count me in as a guaranteed sale if the game is published in the US.

If Aksys picks this up they will be my favorite game publishers forever

Looks adorable, OK inner child being quiet now. Its good to see titles like this at least trying to get a western release, Im still upset over Umihara Kawase getting the axe for localization.

  • masuto

I’ll bet my avatar that Aksys will be publishing this game!

I played Coropata. I don’t think it should be localized in its current state because it demands way too much precision and doesn’t so much as give you a clue as to whether you’re doing it right or not. I haven’t seen anything past the 12th stage out of more than 100 so far. It’s incredibly frustrating and I feel that this will be a point that a lot of reviewers will take issue with.
