Castlevania: Rondo of Blood Gives Virtual Console A Vampire Kiss

By Spencer . March 15, 2010 . 9:21am

imageA real classic is coming to Wii in a few hours. The original version of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood will be available as a Virtual Console download today.

And by “original” we mean “original Japanese version.” This 900 Wii Point ($9) download is an unaltered Virtual Console import. While Konami completed a translation made for the PSP remake, they didn’t use it for the Virtual Console re-release. Few Virtual Console games are updated, but there are Wii games with changes. Nintendo added picture sharing to Pokemon Snap and replaced Kawasaki jet ski ads in Wave Race 64.

Not that there’s much to read in this game anyway.

There are a couple of interesting cutscenes.

      *hugs original PC-E copy*

      (not really)

The perfect game, perfectly preserved for future generations. I like.

I waited forever for this game… then, several months ago, I said “screw it” and bought a PSP along with Dracula X Chronicles.

Better late than never, I guess, but it’s a shame that Nintendo had to wait until I lost interest before adding this to their online catalog.

Dude! Castlevania is so awesome, you should have every version on every console! Yes, even the N64 games! It is Castlevania! :)

Meh, Ill pass. I already have a localized version of this with my copy of Dracula X chronicles on PSP (its an unlockable extra).

PSP version has sound errors, muddy colors and worse image quality. Emultion on the VC version is flawless though, for $9 it really is the better version.

Hey… they changed the German voice over…

        • jarrodand

Yeah, that’s the one change I’ve noticed, and it’s kinda weird. I wonder if it was a rights issue with original voice actor or something? :/
