River City Soccer Hooligans Screenshot Kickoff

Aksys broke the news about a Kunio-Kun soccer game, but didn’t release any River City Soccer Hooligans media. Good thing Arc System Works is around! The Japanese publisher of the same game with a different name (Kunio-Kun’s Hyper Hot-Blooded! Soccer League Plus World Hyper Cup) broke away with eight screenshots of the Nintendo DS soccer game.

Ace commenter Matty suggested River City Soccer Hooligans may be like Nintendo World Cup, which was a rebranded Kunio-Kun game. Some of Nintendo World Cup may have rubbed off on this game too. Notice how you have teams from Japan and South Africa? Nintendo’s localization added countries in. The original Famicom game was a battle between high schools.

River City Soccer Hooligans is slated for May 27 in Japan and sometime this year in North America.

  • I’ve never been more thrilled to see rain, dirt, soccer balls and Russia in one game. Hopefully the rocks and ice field make it in.
    Don’t forget the retro music!
Crossing my fingers this has at least 2 players. My dad would love that ;)

I know right? Aksys needs to start sending out media for their games if they really want to sell their game.

  • I hope that Wi-Fi would be implemented, seeing how football (what we Americans call soccer) is played worldwide and beloved in at least 5 continents of the world.
