Gamestop Has Spectral Force: Genesis Fire Sale

By Spencer . March 18, 2010 . 9:52am

Gamestop Has Spectral Force: Genesis Fire Sale Spectral Force: Genesis just shipped to stores on Tuesday and mega retailer Gamestop already dropped its price.

Ignition set $29.99 as the suggested retail price. Gamestop’s $10 price drop brings it down to the impulse friendly $19.99 mark. The deal seems to be a Gamestop-only thing since Amazon and other online retailers are stuck at the $29.99 level.

Spectral Force: Genesis is one of many RPGs released during March madness. It’s went up against Final Fantasy XIII, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, Infinite Space, Resonance of Fate, Lunar… with little marketing support or attention.

Thanks for the tip Len!

Ugh, I actually want to be interested in this… but if it’s anything like its predecessor, then no thank you. Besides, except for decent character art it doesn’t look like it’s something I’d enjoy.

I played the japanese version and enjoyed it more than I thought, even if its grand strategy formula is a bit toned down from the Generation of Chaos standards (less stats and management, the turns randomization and so on) it still retains a lot of depth, not to mention its astounding replayability given the many available factions.

One problem I can think of is that western players who never followed the Spectral series and its timeline will probably lose many references made by the characters during dialogues (the translation of the european version made by Nobilis did a lot to make things even more obscure, with strange choices for the names’localizations), not that a game such as this relies too heavily on the plot, being a strategy game more than a conventional jrpg.

Yeah, it’s $20 at GameStop.com… But it’s continually on “Currently Not Available Online” status that I just ended up getting it from Amazon. I’ll gladly pay the extra $10 in this case, as I have been waiting for this title to be out for a while already, than continually have to check one site over and over just to see if they can actually sell it online… And Ignition still has no mention of the game on its website.

I’ve played it b4 i kept losing after about half an hour(pretty much when i max my troops and fight the toughs guys), i think this is a good deal for those who like strategy RPGs

    “Currently Not Available Online” :(

Aw, shucks. I wanted to see if using the coupon code “SECRETS” would give an additional 10% off. It looks like a solid title, so I just might check it out later.

Well I don’t really need a DS RPG right now as I have yet to finish Chrono Trigger, Luminous Arc, and just started Pkmn Gold. I also still have yet to start Sands of Destruction, Luminous Arc 2, Front Mission and others that Im probably forgetting. Though I don’t know much about this series, and never tried them as I heard they were quite bad.

It’s gonna drop to $20 in about 6 months anyway.
