Samurai Shodown: Sen Unsheathed On March 30

By Spencer . March 19, 2010 . 4:01pm

imageXseed plans to push out Samurai Shodown: Sen in the already busy March video game monsoon. Their first Xbox 360 game is slated for March 30.

This game is also Xseed’s first title from SNK Playmore. Samurai Shodown: Sen was originally in Ignition’s hands. Xseed formally announced the publisher change with a spring release window in February. At launch, the game will be a sliver less than most Xbox 360 titles at $49.99. The game has 24 characters, online play, and in the Western version brutal finishing moves.

With only two weeks until launch, and little press coverage, can Samurai Shodown: Sen survive or is it committing retail seppuku?

  • No PS3 on this one, eh? Just 360?

Yeah, it’s arcade and 360 only.

  • You’re not missing much. The game’s pretty terrible as a fighter. It is however presented in hilariously mangled English, as per SNK tradition. I hope Xseed didn’t do anything as stupid as fixing the grammar. That would be extinguishing the last spark of soul this series has left.

I’m not familiar with this series at all, but wouldn’t it be a good thing if XSEED got rid of the typos?

      • That would destroy the spirit of the game. Samurai Shodown games (like most SNK games) were filled with hilariously bad “Engrish.” Part of the fun of playing them is laughing at the nonsensical winning quotes, you silly funster.

  • Eh… $49.99 is probably too much for this game… I know KOF XII wasn’t even worth the $25 I spent on it… This 3D Samurai Showdown doesn’t look so hot… I’d bite for $30 probably… which sadly (for Xseed anyways…) is probably what this game is going to drop to shortly…

Sounds like one of those many $5/$10 SNK games.
