And Kensaku: Nintendo’s Next Wii Game Plays With Internet Search

By Spencer . March 29, 2010 . 9:19am

imageIn contrast to the ultraviolent Zangeki no Reginleiv, And Kensaku is designed for families. In this game, players battle to see which search terms have the most results.

Using data from Google, And Kensaku has records of 10,000 search terms on disc. More terms can be downloaded through Nintendo Wi-Fi. Developer Shift took the trends and made games out of them. A quiz style game has players guess which search term is more popular. The bomb game is like Hot Potato. Whoever picks the phrase with the least amount of hits loses. Another game is like a race where the mascot character runs faster when you pick trendy search terms.

Nintendo plans to release And Kensaku in stores on April 29 for 4,800 yen ($52). No plans for an international release have been announced.

This sounds like something that might be released on the Wii Shop channel (remember that channel with the Surveys?). Full price seems a bit steep.

  • This sounds like a title more fitting for WiiWare.. :S.

    • That’s exactly what I was thinking! Until I saw that last part, I thought this was about like a 1,000 Wii Points game.

This sounds like something that could be released for free, like that Everybody Vote channel. Or maybe, ad-supported at best.
