Xenoblade Trailer Cuts Giant Gods Apart

By Spencer . March 31, 2010 . 12:03pm

Nintendo is starting to promote Xenoblade (again). This trailer just popped up on Japan’s Nintendo channel which shows two colossal gods cleaving into each other.

You are an inhabitant on one of them and wield a glowing pink sword. While this trailer is light on gameplay, we have an idea of what to expect. Last year, Nintendo brought Xenobalde to E3 under the temporary name Monado: Beginning of the World. Other than the initial reveal Nintendo of America hasn’t said anything else about it. Xenoblade is set for a spring release in Japan.

The setting is nice, people on colossus are always epic (Shadow of the Colossus, God of War 3), even dead ones. Not sure if the gameplay is for me though, if it’s indeed MMO-like..

When I said MMO-like, I meant it’s going to be an action RPG with a party you don’t control the other characters directly. This is coming from the team that worked on Soma Bringer, which is mostly made up of the game designers behind Xenosaga Epsiode III with Tetsuya Takahashi in charge.

This looks similar to Soma Bringer but on a much larger scale and in a better style. If you’ve played it then you have an idea of what to expect here. I’m betting the biggest difference with the team is that Takahashi is writing the story (or co-writing it with Soraya Saga), whereas he only wrote some lyrics for the songs in Soma Bringer. Hopefully we start getting more info soon, since the “Spring 2010” date for Japan hasn’t changed yet.

The official website has been updated with the trailer and some new music too:

Thus and The Last Story should be good RPG’s for Nintendo.

Wish N would just release Reginleiv the Destroyer as well to the states…
