Chrono Trigger Formation Arts Are Timeless Classics

The Chrono Trigger statuettes are late for the game’s debut, but boy are they gorgeous.

Square Enix made plastic replicas of memorable scenes from the Super Nintendo game like the fight against Magus and Lucca repairing Robo. I think the one with Ayla is their triple tech, Twister. Marle is notably absent from this pack of four figures.

Entertainment Earth is selling the four figure bundle for $39.99 and it won’t ship until October, just before the two year anniversary of the Nintendo DS re-release.

  • How can they do a set of figures without the main character’s woman!?

    • BK0000

Maybe they’re saving her for a future set.

      • But first they have to save her in the past.

    • MisterNiwa

      Lavos ate her.

  • Aoshi00

On closer inspection they don’t seem to be that well made, I wouldn’t mind paying more for better quality figures. But I do want these, god knows how many times I have stared at these Toriyama illustration and wished for a Chrono Trigger manga. If there was a Marle one, it would be Marle showing Crono her pendant on the hill.

  • Code

rar, I love these, I saw them earlier today TwT they look great, it’s not often I buy this kind of thing, but I may very well have to buy a set in October. But yeah, has it seriously been 2 years since CT on the DS? Mann time flies.

  • Hours

Cool, but not having Marle is weird. I hate it when figure sets leave out main characters, especially when the cast isn’t that big.

    • Aoshi00

There are about 8-9 main illustrations Toriyama did for CT, not including the miscellaneous ones, scenes like the campfire at night, Ayla on dragon flying to the castle, Epoch, and Marle/Chrono under the starlight, or the DS/SNES cover (Crono fighting a monster on snowy field) Maybe there would be a 2nd set. These figures are all based on existing drawings.

      • Code

Yeah I noticed that they are all directly based off them — and chances are theses will sell like hotcakes so if you ask me we’ll probably see a series 2 down the road with the other illustrations in figure form >w<'

    • Kris

Since these are trading figures, I’m sure Marle will be available as the rare blind-box only statuette.
      Well, maybe.

  • I hope there’s gonna be one for Frog’s human form.

  • Tokyo Guy

How about instead of commissioning a bunch of static sculptures, Square orders, I don’t know…a new Chrono game for crying out loud? Or at the very least, action figures.
