TV Show Promises Dragon Quest X Information (Maybe?)

By Spencer . April 13, 2010 . 2:49pm

imageJapanese message boards are buzzing about a TV broadcast from Tama New Town. Their schedule says an upcoming episode has “super rare treasure information get!?” on Dragon Quest X.

This is odd since Square Enix hasn’t said anything about Dragon Quest X, other than it is being made for Wii. The Dragon Quest IX blog confirms something is happening though since it mentions and appearance on the show.

Hugely hyped joke or actual news about Dragon Quest X? We’ll find out real soon.

If it’s anything at all, I bet it’s something like, “Here’s the real logo!”

  • MrRobbyM

I just hope it’s similar to VIII with a faster or improved battle system.

    • Ereek

Ick, no thank you. Less like VIII or IX and more like V or VII. IX tried to be like III but did miserably in its imitation, unfortunately.

      • MrRobbyM

Haven’t played VII. I hear it’s one of the best. Anyways, what did you dislike about VIII?

        • Ereek

It’s not that I dislike VIII, but I do feel it’s a weak entry in the series. In particular, I disliked the way characters were developed in-battle as well as the direction the story and game takes after about 40%.

I think a better question to ask me would be “what did V and VII do that you prefer them over VIII?”. In this case I could make a rather large comparison! Without boring you with details, VII feels like a very “personal” game, one where it really feels like you have an impact on the world and its people. Where each townsperson isn’t just a townsperson, but many have some part in the plot. In fact, I’d say that I felt more emotion for some of the random NPCs in VII than I did for all of the characters in the entire game in VIII. Not to mention Sharkeye’s story is absolutely beautifully written and damn it all if that “soap opera” that spans three cities wasn’t a heartbreaking rollercoaster.

Sounds interesting. I really look forward to playing it now.

          • Oh if we talking about story im with you 100%, DQ 5 was just… perfect, man, the first RPG where i freaking felt like, damnit! i just finished living someone elses life! getting a girl, son and daughter, when i finished the game, i was so happy for the guy! And sad remembering the times when he was a kid… *sigh* those after boss credits were harsh to my heart

      • When you say more like 5 or 7, im guessing you mean, more like 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, right?

I approve for DQ 8 style! i loved it, and is new, frankly (and i really love DQ series) the battle system was starting to get dull …

      • Hraesvelgr

I approve of this idea. VII got a lot of hate for its graphics, but it was a great game.

    • badmoogle

      Me too!
I loved the free roaming in DQVIII’s beautiful environments.I hope DQX has the same “feel”.

      • Seriously, probably my favorite DQ game ever. Fantastic environments, HUGE world.

        • i also loved the fact that when you change sword, it changes in your back as well :D

  • Guest

Please go forward with the no random battles approach from here on out.

    • Hraesvelgr

Dragon Quest with no random battles? You crazy. It would be strange to see a Dragon Quest title with more “modern” ideas… and I wonder if the Japanese community would even let them.

      • didnt DQ 9 already eliminated random battles?

      • Guest

Checked this late but anyways as WildArms said DQIX didn’t have random battles so……yea.

    • Code

rar, wow! You got balls — two of them, at the end of your name.

  • “super rare treasure information get!?”

    oh man, never gets old.

  • Kuza21

    I want DQ on PS3 NOW! : (

    • Kuza21, please do note that DQ is so old-school, graphics whores will NOT like the gameplay.
