A Refresher Course In Everything Persona 3

By Spencer . April 15, 2010 . 7:42pm

Atlus brought us Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 three years ago. Maybe you forgot what the Dark Hour is now. Maybe you skipped it. Or maybe you can’t get enough Persona 3. (Apparently, Japan can’t.) If any of those profiles fit you watch this.

Atlus put together a video walkthrough that summarizes the story and explains how the game works.

This isn’t a direct port. Atlus revised the battle system to make it more like Persona 4. You can control allies now and they can take fatal blows for the main character. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable also has new costumes, part time jobs, spell cards to transfer abilities (think Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey’s sources), and of course a female protagonist.

im really excited for this to come out. i didnt get very into the orginal.. i think i wasnt too big on not being able to control my team mates, which P4 fixed and i loved it, so im happy that the P3P will have that. i do hope that eventually they make a P4P .. that would be amazing.

Oh, and the penis looking monster on the chariot. Which hope neither of them make a return.

    • Wow can you tell me where did Mara touch you? You don’t have to use it.

    • We fought LONG and HARD to get Mara.

      • Nekobo

        Don’t be a dick. :)

      • lmao

  • ElTopo

I think the first 150 hours was enough.

Playing the game in the two superior iterations was more then enough.
    This is just overkill.

    • Hraesvelgr

But this version has a female main character!

      • raymk

yeah mshe FTW and i only played the game once and it was FES. I want to play again and its portable so it’ll tide me over till VC2 comes out

        • Hraesvelgr

Well, my comment was meant more as a mock of the people who vehemently defend that this game is getting a third iteration in such a short amount of time, but I might play it for the female lead.

…I’ve never played Persona 3, so I find this a good way for peole who haven’t to play it anytime, anywhere. It still does feel like a cash-in, though.

Valkyria Chronicles 2 actually comes out a week before P3P; try Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

  • BrotherCavil

I hated the hell out of the story. I detested the characters even more. But as a grind-fest, it was fairly decent, save for the inability to control your team members.

Even with all the dislikes I had with the game, I’m strangely looking forward to this one. I dunno why…but I just get the feeling it’ll work better as a portable game. That weird? Anyone else feel the same?

  • Nekobo

Been wanting to replay this for a while now, so having a streamlined version on the go is perfect for me. Just throw in another soundtrack with the new music and I’ll be happy to plop down $40 for this.

  • Im gonna buy persona 3 for the third time… and im happy about it

  • ndjn3979

This is one of those games that are best left behind in fond memory.

Every musical score in this game strikes a chord within me, it awakens a lot of different emotions. I like how they’ve made new chat-pictures of characters whom didn’t have their own picture in the older games, like the history teacher. And the random guy whom gets consumed by shadows in the beginning has gotten a very creepy and more visual presentation of his demise, I like it. By the way, when the narrator talks about Tartarus, it really sounds to me like he says “sleep with Mitsuru to enter Tartarus”. You’re the boss, Atlus-guy.

I think I’m gonna play this again with female char only though =p

Good to see I can control my party members like P4
