Harmony Of Despair? That Sure Sounds Like A Castlevania Game

By Spencer . April 15, 2010 . 3:11pm

imageKonami may be orchestrating two Castlevania games, Castlevania: Lord of Shadow and Castlevania: Harmony of Despair.

The second title has not been announced, but Konami trademarked Harmony of Despair in Europe. And Harmony of Despair follows the post Rondo of Blood naming formula of “something (possibly musical) of something else.”

Candidly speaking, this is just a guess at what Harmony of Despair could be, but the Nintendo DS seems due for another Castlevania game. Order of Ecclesia, which was also coincidentally discovered via a trademark a few months before E3, came out two years ago.

Dont get me all hyped right now~~~~ !!!!!

    I want a new NDS 2D Sidescroller!

  • It seems possible. There was already Harmony of Dissonance =o.
I’m at odds with two Castlevania games that include Harmony in its subtitle.

    • MisterNiwa

Aria Of Sorrow -> Dawn Of Sorrow. :I

      • But at least AoS and DoS were directly related. The names were similar in part to tell you, “Hey, this is actually a sequel! That doesn’t happen very often!”

I’m pretty sure Harmony of Despair is not a sequel to Harmony of Dissonance. As it turns out, Dissonance was called Concerto of the Midnight Sun in Japan, sooo… this is an issue for the localization team, I guess.

        • MisterNiwa

Concerto Of The Midnight Sun sounds badass. :(

Why-o-Why didnt we get that one?

    • Chow

But they already used the word “Harmony” in a title already. It seems redundant to use it again.

  • bocom

Maybe that’s the Alucard game that’s been hinted at!?

  • Damnit, the Castlevania Name Generator is offline.

  • mFrog

    Harmonized despair…?
…like Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor?

    Yes, I bet it’ll be a Bach music & rhythm game !!
    Compatible with DDR pads.
    Take that, Chopin!

(Sequel Coming up: “Unharmonious Tranquility ” starring Debussy)

  • I didn’t realize it, but you’re right, Ishaan… it’s been a while for one of them 2D Castlevania-types.

    Hmmm. Would be cool.

YES! IGA! The king is back!

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow looks stupid (imo).

    • Hraesvelgr

Hey, I might be okay with Lords of Shadow if they could prove to me that it’s a Castlevania game. Where’s Dracula? You can’t have a Belmont with no Dracula.

      • cowcow

Didnt you hear him at the end of the trailer? He sounded sick!

IGA himself has said he’s run out of ideas lol so I’m willing to give Lords of Shadow a chance (because I’m not a weeaboo)

        • Guest

weeaboo. ugh! why did you have to use such a juvenile internet term? it’s stupid and the people who use it are stupid. i hate it! please grow up internet!

          • fallen

imo. ugh! why did you have to use such a juvenile internet term? it’s stupid and the people who use it are stupid. i hate it! please grow up internet!

seriously, who the hell “like”d that comment? his two alts?

          • Guest

            alts? What is that?

Also, people say “seriously” and “really” way too much in real life and online. I don’t like it!

  • gutsdozer

Probably a sequel to Harmony of Dissonance, as Dawn of Sorrow followed Aria…

  • somacruz

Another metroidvania maybe? oh man sounds like fucking gay Alucard Belmont aka Juste making a sequel?

The name sounds as creative as recent Iga games -_- zzzzzz

  • Well that’s potentially good to hear! It’s been far too long since Konami released a portable Castlevania game.

On a side note, I remember going back to play the PSOne Castlevania game some years ago and finding how “awful” it looks when compared to the DS installments. And all that time I had been under the impression the DS games were still trying to achieve the quality of the PSOne installment…
