BlazBlue Hits PC And European PSPs In June

By Spencer . April 16, 2010 . 1:25pm

imageBlazBlue: Calamity Trigger finally reached Europe two weeks ago and Zen United already has more BlazBlue in the pipeline.

The UK based company announced PSP and PC versions today. The PSP port is the same game Aksys released in North America this past February. BlazBlue on PC is just like its console counterpart. It even has Xbox Live compatibility since PC owners can fight 360 gamers online.

At this time, Aksys has not announced plans to publish the PC version of BlazBlue.

Cross-platform play with Xbox Live is nice, but why release the older Calamity Trigger when the updated version Continuum Shift is already out in Japanese arcades and pending a console release?

    • Xien12

Because Continuum Shift is a sequel, not just an “updated version.”

I didn’t mean to make it sound like a downloaded patch if that’s what you got from my comment. Continuum Shift to me is just a followup with tweeks to the balance and system and new characters. A sequel would be a Blazblue 2 several years from now with a revamped system and new mechanics.

My point still stands that they should be focusing their resources on releasing BB:CS on PC instead of CT though.

It has a new story mode that follows chronologically. It’s not like they didn’t do the same thing with Guilty Gear.

Wow! PC? Last time I played a beat-em-up on PC was an emulated DBZ game 8 years ago. I’m pretty sure I’ll pick up the PSP version.

    A PC version… This is unexpected…

    • fermented

It wouldn’t be that unexpected if you knew that:

      1. The Taito X2 arcade hardware that the game runs on is basically a PC running Windows XP, so a PC port is pretty easy for them to do.

      2. Street Fighter 4 was released on PC.

      3. Arcade BB:CS has been ripped and pirated on PCs, so it makes a lot of sense to release the game on PC for those who want a legitimate copy and play online.

However, what I feel doesn’t make sense is that they’re currently only releasing the older BB:CT on PC instead of CS.

Ahh I have no idea on arcade hardware since I’m a strictly console gamer. @_@
Your thoughts are the exact same as mine. Why BB:CT?
I was expecting the publishers to wait for a few months and release CS instead.
Let’s see. CS release, July. BB:CT pc, maybe next month. There’s only a 2 month gap before everyone switches from CT to CS.
Now I’m really having doubts whether CS will be released in EU around the same time US gets theirs.
        Discriminated, yet again :3
