Dungeons In Chaos Rings Level Up With You

By Spencer . April 19, 2010 . 12:32am

imageTired of seeing the same level 1 slimes when your hero’s stats are maxed out? The developers of Chaos Rings understand and designed their iPhone RPG with scalable difficulty levels.

When you level up, the dungeon levels up. Difficult dungeons have tougher monsters and rare items, which should give players a reason to revisit old worlds.

Chaos Rings also has a character customization system where players use genetic data. Enemies drop genes. Equip these to use special skills like Cocytus, an aqua magic spell that deer in Chaos Rings have.

Square Enix producer Takehiro Ando says Chaos Rings, like most iPhone apps, is smoother on an iPhone 3GS. However, it works fine on a launch iPhone and any model iPod touch. Chaos Rings comes out this week worldwide.

Hopefully this will get ported. Maybe the PSP, DS, WiiWare?

Ironically I was just talking with a few friends about how much we dislike it when monsters in RPGs scale to your level. Oh well, game still looks pretty fun and if it sucks it’s just an iphone game anyway. Was gunna be my first Apple game :(

I don’t mind monsters scaling in level, but they should make it so that they can’t quite catch up to you (so level grinding still has a meaning). What I really dislike is when enemies get stronger equipment. I still have nightmares of Oblivion, where after you went up to level 50, even the random thugs were wearing daedric equipment. Doesn’t even make sense. And a single battle would take a lot longer, making the game a bore.

From the screen shot of the facebook page, it seems that you have to choice whether you want to fight in a lvl 1-10 dungeon, lvl 10-20 etc.
