Experience Ys: The Oath in Felghana On PSP This Week

By Jenni . April 19, 2010 . 4:06pm

Ys: The Oath in Felghana may be a classic from 2005, but a lot more people are going to be exposed to it very soon. Falcom’s releasing the PSP version of the PC game on April 22, 2010. Looks like there’ll be something good to import this week!

Ys: The Oath in Felghana takes place after Ys I and II and once again stars Adol Christin. He and his friend Dogi are traveling to Redmont, a city on Dogi’s home island of Felghana. The two end up getting involved in an endeavor to help the people there, who are currently plagued by monsters and tyranical rulers. It was originally created as a PC remake of Ys III and offered an overhead view and 3D game engine. Unlike Ys III: Wanderers from Ys, it has never been released outside of Japan.

The PSP version does offer quite a few new additions to those willing to invest in it. There’s lots of different background music to choose from, full event voice acting and an illustration album to complete as you play. It also has a widescreen presentation this time around.

There are two editions of Ys: The Oath in Felghana being released. A standard version which will just come with the UMD of the game, and the limited edition will include an additional drama CD. If you’re in Japan, you may want to consider placing an order with Amazon.co.jp – you can get a special Ys: Wanderers from Ys X68000 Original Soundtrack with your order of the standard or special edition.

That’s nice and all… but WHERE’S THE US RELEASE FOR YS I & II CHRONICLES ON PSP! Nobody wanted the dinky little DS version!
Here’s a link that shows why:

Yeah I’m ordering this directly from Nihon Falcom, they’re great w/ overseas fans (they take VISA and their shipping fees are dirt cheap).

If you’re not comfortable w/ Japanese, you can always check out this order-form from NightWolve:

Now that is an Action RPG/platformer/dungeon crawler. Once its loads times are bearable it might do some good business. I hope.Oh how I hope.

I’ll wait until the XSeed localization. I’m not too fond of purchasing text heavy imports.

Oh nice Y’s game, wonder if going to be translated to english

I remember when I got my SNES (which was pretty much when it was about over as a console, the PS1/Saturn had just come out), the only RPG I could find for it was Ys III. Ugh.

The original Ys 3 is absolutely horrible, I agree, but Oath in Felghana seems to fix the game by going back to an overhead view and having good hit detection and physics.

        SACRILEGE.

        • conchobhar

If anything, liking Ys 3 is sacrilege.

Since, for some reason, I can’t post this comment as a reply to kaisho and denpanosekai-

He does care, but if he actually had a good attitude about what he was doing, I’d wager that he’d have a lot more people willing to support this instead of just laughing at him from the sidelines.

He did a lot of work for the fandom, and his work for Ys Complete and Felghana is both well made. It’s just he seems to have lost his wits and is no longer the cool guy he was- probably due to the leaking of his Felghana patch.

He’s pretty much lost it, and has become noise that a lot of us- especially in the translation scene- would like to see quiet down. He’s probably just going to do a good job to ruin it for everyone. :/

It took me a moment to decide whether or not I’d say this, since it’ll probably draw him out of the woodwork and rage about it, but I don’t care. It’ll help him show his true colors.
