No More Heroes Xbox 360 And Wii Painstakingly Compared

By Spencer . April 19, 2010 . 9:18am

Feelplus and Marvelous just released No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise in Japan. How does the HD port stand up to the original release?

Watch this comparison video of the Xbox 360 and Wii versions, made by game blog PS360, to find out.

This second video analyzes load times of the game installed on an Xbox 360 hard drive versus the Wii’s DVD drive. Doesn’t sound like a fair fight on paper, but watch this video. The results may surprise you.

Even though No More Heroes on Xbox 360 is uncensored and has Japanese voice acting, Japan doesn’t seem satisfied with it. On Amazon, the Xbox 360 version of No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise only has two stars. The PlayStation 3 version has three. Long loading times and freezing were common complaints about the Xbox 360 port.

Looks like Marvelous simply can’t deal with HD consoles, uh?

Wouldn’t this be a Feel Plus issue as to how they got the port running? I feel long load times shouldn’t be a big negative point against a game. Yet, we see the results of the loading despite using the hard install. Given its initial sales numbers & the above I really don’t see this making its way over to western territories given its sales.

  • yea i would give this game a second run through on xbox360 but its not leaps ahead of the wii game i played years ago

  • [The Hunter] Doomrider

Bring it over here, we’ll take care of the rest.

They aren’t exact ports by the looks of things. Visually speaking, they are pretty different, and I am assuming they retooled the audio as well (surround sound + higher quality source = more info to sort through than the original).

Is it not fair to assume that the 360 version simply has more that needs to load in the first place? While it would be cool if the 360 was somehow faster than it’s lighter Wii counterpart, is that really practical to think that’s how it should be? I’m not convinced that it -should- be faster.

As for freezing, that’s legitimately no good. :p

Well…now we know why Ubi skimped out on it…

    • Hraesvelgr

Yeah, because they prefer to release quality, bug-free games. Oh wait.

  • MrRobbyM

So I guess the PS3 version has shorter loading times and no(or less) freezing than the 360 version? Also, do the 360/PS3 versions have a english voice/text option?

  • First though: Kazuya Nakai <3 <3
But yeah, those loading times are terrible…

    • Aoshi00

Nakai’s very cool indeed, so is Inoue Marina’s Sylvia (and the rest of the cast too), hope the game is worth it, despite the load times and freezing which could really ruin the experience :(…

  • Aoshi00

Dang it, so it’s either longer load time or censor huh? I got the 360 ver, the
HDD install load time kind of sucks. I hope the freezing wouldn’t happen too much… so the 2 stars and 3 stars came from the long load times and freezing, man that sounds really bad, now I’m afraid waiting for my copy :(… sigh… sometimes you really need to read reviews before buying a game. Now I’m praying Ketsui won’t have horrible load times like Dodonpachi…

  • thebanditking

Long loads and freezing……….gee that sounds lovely. Oh well they could polish up a US release (if we ever get one) and I would be getting it on PS3 which does not seem effected. This reminds me of the recent Fist of the North Star game, which also turned out very badly on 360.

    • Aoshi00

On the Amazon page they say the load time is horrible for PS3 too, I guess it’s just less freezing :(…

  • masuto

That game is just too american for Japan.

  • lostinblue

I actually prefer the Wii visuals by a country mile.

The HD version improvements give it a lube appearance (I mean: travis glasses and stuff)
