Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The Fate Of Two Worlds Set For Spring

By Spencer . April 20, 2010 . 8:11am

image Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The Fate of Two Worlds is about a year away. Capcom’s press release notes the game is slated for spring 2011. A new team lead by Tatsunoko vs. Capcom producer Ryota Niitsuma is developing the game for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

“We are so pleased to be working with Marvel again. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has been one of the most requested titles for us to produce by our fans,” said Christian Svensson, Corporate Officer and Vice President of Strategic Planning and Business Development at Capcom. “Our Capcom development studio is creating the most epic fighting game ever developed and Marvel’s input into that process has been invaluable.”

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The Fate of Two Worlds, like Marvel vs. Capcom, uses a 3-on-3 tag team system with aerial raves, hyper combos, assist attacks, and wild hyper combos. Sprites are out. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has 3D graphics, but Capcom says The Fate of Two Worlds will blur the lines between 2D and 3D with a living comic book art style.

  • Yay! except for the fact that it’s slated for next year, I’m hoping it’s better balanced than MvC2.

    • Saturnus

I hope they actually balance the characters, so there isn’t like 4/a lot (forgot what was the total, like ~40? >_> ~50? anyway) that are used. Made online kinda meaningless when all I’d be up against is Storm/Cable/Magneto or Storm/Cable/Sentinel.

      • Yeah ._. let´s hope for that

then the gruesome wait for the announcement of characters and final roster follows…

  • I thought that it’ll be slated for this year, but heck. It’s still worth the wait.

  • WHAT?!

    • MisterNiwa

Hey and Dante will be in it aswell!

      • I can’t wait to see people erupt when they announce a Monster Hunter class in the game. Bwahahahaha.

        • It did happen in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker x Monster Hunter 2G. Lol :D

    best news ever!

It would be nice if they can accurately recreate Shinkiro’s 2D artwork in perfect movement.

This is what I always wanted 3D wise for King of Fighters or the artist that did the Castlevania covers

I’ve heard two things regarding character count:
1.) Due to time constraints, the team shot for a paltry 30 characters.
2.) A game producer saying something like, “The amount of characters in this game will blow fans away.”

…So which is true? After MvC2, they have to be aware that 30 characters will not be blowing away very many peoples’ expectations, regardless of how awesome the roster is, right?

Fou Lu, from Breath of Fire, please! I’m saying this everywhere! But I must! TO CAPCOM! Awaaaaaaaaaaay!

Seriously though, I love Breath of Fire. I’d love to see some characters from there, in it. Rival School’s(Project Justice) also.

  • More Capcom style and less Marvel style PLEASE! :
