Neptune’s Moe Morphed Video Game Companies

By Spencer . April 20, 2010 . 6:06pm

Neptune goes beyond console-tans. Compile Heart has moe parodies of video game companies too. The official site has pictures of these characters with question marks so we don’t know their name.

We do know what companies they’re supposed to represent though, thanks to commenters honorless and iMoogle (thanks!!). URLs to these character’s pages give pretty big hints.

Idea Factory (np_if.html) – she looks like she fits in with angst filled Spectral Force characters.

Gust (np_gast.html) – child-like and has a bunny hat that looks like an Atelier slime.

Nippon Ichi (np_nippon.html) – hard to miss the Prinny connection, especially with the scarf.

Compile Heart (np_conpa.html) – did she step out of Agarest War? The “C” hair band and Compile Heart logo necklace are nice touches.

D’awww, I like the NIS one!

    • MisterNiwa

Yuh and the Compile Heart one sure is cute. ^D

  • I still don’t get why I’m so excited over this game, hm. But I hope it gets localised *dreamy sigh*

  • Omg the prinny girl is hot, they are really giving their all on these designs! hope NISA notes this *wink* *wink*

    • Ereek

On the subject of NISA, where has Nick been recently? He better be working hard!

      • Working hard… you have no idea!!!

Of course, we’ve only announced Trinity Universe as far as my projects (well, the anime titles as well)… but lemme just say that TriUni debug is taking a LOT of effort. And time.

And the other game I’m focusing on? Oh yeah. It’s actually got a super fun storyline. It makes me feel like a hero.

But I’m always reading Siliconera =) I love this place. It keeps me sane!

        • Ereek

Oh my, a hint without even asking. Much love, as always. I miss your posts! You tend to be a voice of rationality here.

          • A hint?! Where?!

…Oh, poo. I see it now.

          • Ereek

            Don’t worry, I won’t tell!

Though I’m a bit curious as to why debugging TU is so difficult compared to any other game. Can you share or is it too confidential?

          • Wish I could be a Hero in a Dungeon though. Especially if it’s of the Classic variety.

          • @ Ereek: No reason, really. The character limits changed about halfway through, so I’ve had to kinda… re-do entire files. Which is hard because you still have to report every line as a bug!

@ Denpanosekai: Oh? Gosh… See, I normally work on more than two games at a time… I wonder what my third is? Do you know, perhaps…? =P

          • Finalstar2007

Mr Nick! sorry i just saw your comments, im assuming that you work NISA by your comments, please tell me are you guys still working on Atelier Rorona? and please bring us more PS3 games like Ar Tonelico 3

          • @ Finalstar2007: Sorry! I didn’t see your comment before. Yeah, we’re still chipping away at Atelier Rorona and it looks like we’re definitely paying attention to upcoming PS3 games. So many good games!!

        • haha, well if we all work hard we will really get paid someday, im really expecting trinity universe >:D, expecting it since last year remember? xD

  • The whole moe-anthropomorphizing of objects and concepts is super amusing to me; so much that I went out looking for a term that isn’t such a mouthful. In otaku slang I guess they’re called gijinka? Anyone wanna confirm that for me?

Anyway. The concept behind this game is so silly I can’t not like it. I’m not setting my hopes too high, though, because this doesn’t seem like a likely contender for localization…

    • It might have a fair chance, but yeah, the concept is amazing to me, as well. It’s like seeing all the fanart of this type of stuff come to life.

    • Moe Gijinka, indeed.

  • 5parrowhawk

…so… they’re parodying every console, but the number and choice of developer characters strikes me as odd. Even if you’re restricting it to the JRPG space, there are quite a few “big names” which you would expect to appear but aren’t represented here. Anyone got an idea why that is…?

Also, are the Wii and PS3 getting kid sisters?

    • nyoron

Gust, NIS, Idea Factory, and Compile Heart all have copyright credits on this game (see official website which is probably why it’s just them, at least for now.

    • Ereek

Oops, I clicked like accidentally. Oh well, it happens.
This is a Compile Heart game. Compile Heart/Idea Factory works together with NIS and Gust often, so it makes sense they’re added.

That said, it’s possible and likely that not all of the characters have been announced yet.

  • Just because we never saw the likes of Segagaga, I really, really, really hope I get to work on this game.

Plus the in-game screenshots actually look pretty decent.

    Hmhmhmm, are you listening, NISA?

…No, I don’t have any insider knowledge. Yet.

    • SeventhEvening

I want this too. And bonus points for Segagaga.

I’d also like to see some Atelier or Ar Tonelico love from NISA *wink*

    • I really, really, really hope you get to work on this game too. :)

  • Oh no, I just popped over to their website to check out the photos and the Gallery is screaming Cross Edge at me…

    • Uh…but, Cross edge had 90% of the characters recycled (from other games) so im guessing you are saying this is the same as a bunch of other games, that had been developed by the same people… what a surprise, umm but these pictures, it give me more a feeling of agarest war than Xedge anyway

  • Does Prinny Girl say “DOOD”, too?
The goggles are a nice touch. It looks similar to the thief’s pair in Disgaea 2

  • I think I will actually be depressed if this is not localized.

  • SeventhEvening

I’m alittle disappointed in Gust-tan. I love gust, but I don’t like that they’re represented by such a loli character. I was hoping for something more Ar Tonelico inspired, or something closer to Iris or Marie. Oh well, I love Prinny-tan at least.

    • Gestahl

This is their mascot. You can see her on the Gust Shop in the top left corner:

      • SeventhEvening

You just blew my mind. I guess I have no right to complain.

  • MisterNiwa

Win! I guessed all of them right.

  • No AliceSoft-tan, I am disappoint

  • Hm. Starting to look more and more interesting. Now I just want to see some gameplay and I might be sold.

  • Jaxx-Leviathan

Huh, are these gonna be playable characters perhaps? I sure hope so, the initial cast of four PCs seems a bit shallow to me unless they are given serious customization options. I hope to hear of DS and PSP characters too, kind of feels like they’re missing. My favorite of these girls are the Nippon Ichi girl, really cute.

  • Equus

    Moe moe kyun!

It’s so sweet, it almost makes my teeth hurt. I want.

  • thebanditking

The Prinny gril rocks! Now all I need to see is the Sega console girls and Im all set.

  • HPN

Man I so want a version of this to come to the 360.
