Last Ranker Will Battle Sales Charts In July Too

By Spencer . April 22, 2010 . 2:06am

imageCapcom set a date for their shonen style, tournament battling RPG, Last Ranker. Zig’s climb to the top starts on July 15.

You can get the PSP game for 5,990 yen ($65) or fork over a few extra bucks for the extended edition. This package comes with a game and a 48 page Last Ranker production note for 6,300 yen ($68).

Imageepoch, the studio behind Sands of Destruction and Arc Rise Fantasia, is the developer. They make a lot of RPGs and if you weren’t aware of that the bottom of the box lets you know what kind of game Last Ranker is.

Capcom has not announced plans to bring Last Ranker outside of Japan at this time, but they trademarked the game’s name right before Tokyo Game Show 2009.

I want to play as the guy in the picture with the blue jacket and white hair. How come he’s not playable :(

Love everything about the game, but that boxart is a massive diasappointment!

From all I’ve heard about IE’s track record, I don’t think I’ll be anticipating this game anytime soon.

Kazuya Niinou’s track record is perfectly fine and he’s directing this game (he created Trauma Center and Etrian Odyssey before leaving Atlus), and Capcom has specifically pointed out that they’re co-developing it as well. It has nothing to do with the game designers behind Luminous Arc or Sands of Destruction.

I hope Capcom USA announces their localization plans for this soon. I’m surprised Okamiden remains undated in Japan and was already announced for localization yet this just got dated and Capcom USA hasn’t said anything about it yet. Hopefully at E3…

I wish you guys the best, Capcom! It looks great so far. Love the character designs.

So going to import this for the summer. Hope its a nice challenge like Breath of Fire V was.

meh.. I would have preferred Tatsuya Yoshikawa do a concept art for the cover..

  • Tokyo Guy

Oh…Imageepoch. I had hoped it would have been the studio that made Dragon Quarter, as everything about this game looks like a sequel to Breath of Fire 5…
