PSPgo lets users control PSP games with a PlayStation 3 controller. Nifty, but what if you have a regular PSP? Well, there’s this idea.

Sony Computer Entertainment America kicked around the idea of connecting a PSP directly to a standard PlayStation controller. A patent outlines two ideas. One uses a hinged PSP case locked on a regular controller. Another solution has users plug their PSP into a special controller. Ah, that brings back memories of good old video game cartridges. Both connected controllers give the PSP a second analog stick, a feature developers could utilize if this accessory ever gets released and sells like hotcakes.

Would you buy it?

Can’t say they win points for looking practicality. Bsed off that alone I certainly wouldn’t purchase this.

That looks heavy. As much as too analog sticks would be, I have a hard time imagining holding that thing.

    • The second analog wouldn’t work outside of PS1 games and remote play. At least you’d have a rumble feature.

    Nice idea Sony….
But it will make PSP heavy

  • nyoron

Probably the biggest reason I don’t really enjoy PSP games in general is that I find playing it rather uncomfortable. Assuming this thing isn’t unbearably heavy I would be all over it.

    Just in time for MHP3rd.

I’d like the special controller instead because, like others are saying, dualshock+ PSP is kinda heavy.

  • Yes. But I’d preferentially buy a PS1/2 to mini-USB cable since I already have the S-Video/Composite/Component out cable.

Let me play PSP games on my HDTV in full-screen, and this would come in handy. It would be like having a small screen on your contro…
    OMG it a VMU

This could mean a new model with 2 analog sticks will be announced this summer, this accessory would add forwards compatibility to the current models.

No!!!! i just wanted them to add a thumb stick, THis looks so lazy :(

  • I’d buy one… the PSP hurts my hands.
