Namco Bandai Plans To Sell A Million Units Of Splatterhouse And Majin

By Spencer . May 11, 2010 . 12:06pm

imageNamco Bandai Games has been actively investing in games for overseas markets. This year, a bunch of those games are going to come out worldwide. How does Namco Bandai expect them to do?

Pretty good, with respect to Splatterhouse and Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom. Namco Bandai anticipates 1,000,000 units in worldwide sales for each title. Expectations for Dead to Rights: Retribution and Clash of the Titans are a bit lower at 700,000 per game.

Dead to Rights: Retribution made its debut in North America and Europe a few weeks ago. Clash of the Titans and Majin are summer games.

really looking forward to Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom, really not looking forward to all the tales of games ignored :P… darn I WANT VESPERIA FOR PS3, WHERE HAVE I DONE WRONG GOD!?

No, it’s not you. For the longest time, it’s painfully clear now that IT’S OVER 9000 times busy with Dragonball, to the point Namco Bandai is just short of switching its flagship from the in-house Tales to the Dragonball license.

IT’S OVER 9000 times you’ll probably say this before 2011.

I’m all over Maijin, but I feel 1 million is a bit high. Bamco needs to use less money on development and instead lower their expectations a bit.

Yeah, but the real stretch has got to be Clash of the Titans reaching 700,000?!? Is anyone else laughing at that projection???

Did Tekken 6, across both platforms, even sell a million? My god, no wonder we’re not getting Vesperia if Namco thinks anything under 700,000 is underselling.

1 million for both worldwide is definitely doable given what marketing campaign they’ll want to pursue. Personally I see Splatterhouse an easier sell than Majin. I think that latest trailer with Rick & the classical music was great.

Tales of games please D: Tales of Graces would be awesome on the Wii. I’d import if it wasn’t region blocked D: Picked up Tales of Hearts while in Japan, still need to try it out.

Edit: and I know this post is about other games, but I can’t help but to complain when Bamco is brought up.

Hahaha, wow! Sorry to sound cynical, but certainly can’t imagine Splatterhouse selling 1,000,000 units, or even coming close. Namco is setting itself up for disappointment on this one.

Clash of the Titans could reach that number considering it made 65% of it’s gross overseas. In America the movie made $158,219,775 while overseas it made $295,400,000. I wouldnt be surprised if Clash the game sells 1 million. As for Splatterhouse, I think it depends on the marketing, because horror is a viable genre for movies and games. If the game is good too, of course that helps. I think the game looks exciting, but I just hope it’s fun.

I’m hoping Splatterhouse is a good game. Even if it’s not, Splatterhouse 1, 2, and 3 is included in game as bonus unlockables. Atleast something in the game will be worth playing. Splatterhouse 1 and 2 are great games. Splatterhouse 3, not so much.
