By Spencer . May 12, 2010 . 11:50am

imageCave, finally has a game available for PlayStation 3 owners. DonPachi, the PsOne version of it, is now available on PlayStation Network in Japan. Cave’s very first game is waiting for you in the Game Archives section.

Steeldom, Zero Divide 2, Silver Star Go, and a bunch of Simple Series games from D3 are also new for Game Archives.

Prefer horizontal shooters or cute ‘em ups? TurboGrafx-16 ports of Gradius and Detana!! Twinbee are scheduled for release next week on May 19. Each game costs 600 yen ($6.50). Simple Series titles 300 yen ($3.25) a piece.

Nice! More awesome games we’ll never get. Can’t they just sell them on the us psn store without a proper translation? It’s not like these games even need them.

Does this version of Donpachi support the analogue stick? Playing shmups with the d-pad on the Dualshock makes me cringe.

Far more interested in the fact that it’s also PSP compatible. Another way to get my Cave fix on the go, I’ll be picking it up once I buy some more Japanese PSN points. And I’m actually more happy about the now more realistic prospect of Dodonpachi PSX showing up in the future ;)

Between PSN releases like this, Einhander, Gaia Seed, Thunderforce V, G Darius, Raystorm, Raycrisis… and add to those the retail PSP releases like the Konami collections, Darius Burst, Strikers 1945 Plus, Sengoku Cannon… PSP has a nice little shooter library.

Heard Sengoku Cannon was pretty bad compared to Sengoku Blade. I recently got a 3000 yen card for about $42.50 so it’s a pretty good deal, saving those for future Heavy Rain DLCs most likely. I find it increasingly hard to play handheld these days even compared to a year or two ago, the portable screen is just way too small for me (it’s hard to even play Peace Walker now… I don’t know if it’s the control scheme limitation or just hard to read the tiny text)

    The Squished-screen Donpachi?? Ugh!

I gotta stop putting off setting up a Japanese PSN account.
