imageAmateur mangaka grab your styli! Columbia Music Entertainment has a manga drawing game for the Nintendo DS.

It’s called Let’s Mangaka DS Style and the genre is “becoming a manga artist adventure”. In this game players are a manga assistant at a comic publishing house and actually draw manga on the touch screen to move forward. Let’s Mangaka DS Style has 550 things for you to draw and an option to make original works. These can be shared wirelessly with up to four players.

You can unlock accessories and clothes to customize your manga artist avatar as you progress. Dress stylishly and you might get a cool boyfriend – the product description actually mentions that.

Let’s Mangaka DS Style comes out in Japan on July 29.

That actually sounds like lots of fun, let’s hope someone picks this up~

  • Yes, please!

PS: I hope there’s an American comic book rendition, either form Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, or other.

That already happened years ago. For the Marvel side anyway.

      • Specifically, I’m referring to non-games like this, for the DS.

it looks like how to draw shojo manga

  • Drawing in paper is a lot more different though….

agreed, but it’s much more realistic than using a mouse and paint. I still can’t draw using that, while I have been able to draw (not as well) using the picto chat and the stylus.

The low resolution of the DS might make things a bit difficult though. I could never make anything with Pictochat, although admittedly my best achievements in drawing are stick figures and the sorts, so I’m not really the best artist out there.

I wonder if you can turn your character into a fujoshi.

      Let us hope so.

  • I tried following a how-to book for drawing manga. Six years later I had to learn the regular Western style in a class and had a much easier time.

Still, this game is interesting! Hey, Aksys, how bout picking this game up and sell it to Wal-Mart and Target? It can capture the female audience too.
