Xseed Announces Partnership With Nihon Falcom

By Spencer . May 14, 2010 . 12:37pm

Starting this summer, Falcom’s suite of PSP games are coming to North America care of Xseed. The two companies worked out a deal that gives Xseed exclusive rights to Ys and The Legend of Heroes series. Falcom sounds ecstatic about the agreement.

We are ecstatic to partner with XSEED Games on multiple new releases, said Toshihiro Kondo, President of Falcom. Their passion and reputation for working on outstanding RPGs is in line with our own development philosophy and assures me that our fans in North America will be getting the best English versions of our games possible.

Six titles from the partnership have been announced: Ys SEVEN, Ys:The Oath in Felghana, Ys I & II Chronicles, and The Legend of the Heroes: Trails in the Sky trilogy.

Stay tuned… we have more to discuss about the Falcom and Xseed partnership on Siliconera.

  • I’ve only played Ys 1, but I’m still all like “yay”

  • speedstersonic

  • zhemos

This is awesome, I can’t wait to play the Sora no Kiseki games.

  • So freaking excited. I’ve been playing Ys 1 recently on my computer after wanting to play it for years, and now I might hold off until all these come out so I can play it on my PSP (I’m not much of a computer gamer…). I will be buying all 6 of these titles, no question about it. XSEED, you rule my world.

  • Great. And I already imported the 3 Ys games… I hope this isn’t too expensive.

  • Ereek

Looks like my PSP is getting a lot of love live this year.

  • jj984jj

DO WANT! DO WANT! DO WANT! DO WANT! DO WANT! DO WANT! All 6 will be mine. These are the 2 Falcom series I wanted most.

  • malek86

Man, this is the best possible way to celebrate the Great Heat day. I knew something good would have happened.

PS. surely they’re going to have Brandish too, right?

  • cowcow

  • kupomogli

XSeed gets my vote for publisher of the year.

  • Joanna

Guess it’s time to pick up a PSP xD

  • Serge73

I wish there were some DS games in there… -______-

  • epiphaniesarefun

It’s about damn time they announced it :P they’ve been teasing for weeks lol.

  • This is… ALMOST completely perfect… now then, just slip in Brandish and I’ll be all set for a long time…

(well, this and if i can figure out who picked up Otomedius for the 360, since I’ve now got it reserved at gamestop (well, Otomedius Excellent, subtitle change i guess?)

  • EvilAkito

It’s funny that Ys Seven was the primary reason I bought a PSP. It’s been almost a year and it’s finally looking like it wasn’t a wasted purchase.

  • Kris

Can’t WAIT for Ys 7 and Oath in Felghana!

  • WonderSteve

OMG, first Lunar, and then this. XSeed is awesome in my books

I own the traditional Chinese version of the LoH 6 trilogy on PC, but I will gladly buy the XSeed version. Hopefully there will be special limited edition.

  • Missing a big one… Brandish is simply the best hardcore dungeon crawler on the PSP right now.But I’m not complaining about the rest! Will buy every single one of these!!

I’m just glad that this is a REAL partnership and not a one-off test case.

  • All we need are Brandish, and Zwei!! and this will be perfect :)

  • That’s a lot of prospective games to localize for a publisher XSEED’s size, especially considering the volume of text present in the Sora no Kiseki trilogy. Have they gotten new staff or are they just unstoppable translation demons? Bit of both, maybe? :P

  • holyPaladin

    Yes XSEED.

Bring on Ys and Sora no Kiseki!

  • Life is beautiful

  • epy

    Awesome news!

  • MoonlitNights0S

You should DEFINITELY play the others as well. You will LOVE it! Wow, I can’t wait and now it’s time to save money. I’ll buy the games first and later get the PSP (don’t want to lose my hands on extra goodies).

  • YAY Ys SEVEN!!!

  • Mazen

Can’t wait for Sora no Kiseki! Thank you Xseed/Falcom.

  • neo_firenze

Good work Xseed! Count me in for all six of these (and any of the other Falcom PSP games that might come our way)

  • Nico87

Awesome news. Xseed is my new fav publisher right now after these news. But hasn’t three of the Legend of Heroes games already been published and met average reviews? Not that it matters.

    • jj984jj

That’s because Bandai butchered them. These were handled by Falcom them-selves.

  • Nico87

Trails in the Sky = Sora no Kiseki? If that’s the case we’re getting..The Legend of Heroes VI: Sora no KisekiThe Legend of Heroes: Sora no Kiseki Second ChapterThe Legend of Heroes: Sora no Kiseki The 3rd..? Awesome. Hope Xseed will publish Ys vs Sora no Kiseki one day too.

First game in the series is supposed to be out in early 2011.

  • Artavasdus

This is simply awesome, I am speechless.

All three Sora no Kiseki. Three Ys. I thought they would start with a single game (maybe backing off if the sales weren’t fantastic), but this announcement dispels all my doubts like a shining trail in the sky.

XSeed is officially my new favourite publisher.

  • Best news I heard in while. I really wanted these titles. ^_^

  • thebanditking

Whoa XSEED slow down your awesomeness is making everyone else look stupid. Seriously at least try and allow the competition to disappoint me first (Namco’s done) before reminding me how much better you are (Atlus not included).

Also I will be buying all of these, awesome news.

  • symytry

I’d replace Legend of Heroes with Brandish and Zwei… The LoH games are all painfully long and boring :( I do love Falcom though, so hearing that Ys is coming is awesome news!
