Ape Escape: Million Monkeys Might Head Stateside, But No Ape Escape Racing

ApeClub, the Ape Escape twitter account, has been responding to fan comments like this one, “I’d rather see Million Monkeys brought Stateside.” Ape Escape: Million Monkeys is a multiplayer monkey catching game for PlayStation 2 only released in Japan. Surprisingly, the Ape Escape tweeter said, “your wish MIGHT be granted….”.

Later, the tweeter explained why Sony passed on publishing Ape Escape Racing, a PSP game, overseas. “No, because sales weren’t so good compared to other Ape Escape titles. It JUST made it into the Best of Best listing in Japan and also, that’s why we didn’t release Primed and Pumped in Europe either.”

So, Sony skipped Ape Escape Racing because of low sales, but might localize a PlayStation 2 Ape Escape game? That’s an odd strategy… unless Ape Escape PS3 is a remake of Ape Escape: Million Monkeys.
