Square Enix’s History Changing Game Revealed

By Spencer . May 20, 2010 . 11:56pm

imageWhen Square Enix said their video game announcement would “change Japanese history” they meant it literally. The countdown is over and the announcement is… Sengoku Ixa.

Sengoku Ixa is a free to play browser based warring states simulation game. Players manage a plot of land and wage war with other areas by voting on battles with their mobile phones. While you only manage a small group, efforts are tallied with other friendly players. The side that wins the most battles gains more land.

So, FarmVille mixed with Sengoku Basara = Sengoku Ixa? That’s what this “history changing” announcement sounds like.

I’m a sucker for these browser games but I’m wondering if this will be in English too or does SE deem it too ‘eastern’ for me?

    • They’ll create a giant S&M Caveman for you to play as out here.

  • I love Wada and how he seems to be developing this habit of intentionally messing with his fans’ heads. It’s hilarious. XD

In a weird, twisted way, it actually makes me respect him. If nothing else, he’s got a sense of humor.

I agree. It shows that he’s not the emotionless corporate head being faceless has shown him to be.

The whole twitter thing shed new light on the man. He isn’t an asshole. He’s a troll. X3

I think this is hilarious that they meant it literally. I really cool advertising idea. Unfortunately, the joke seems to be to complicated for a vast majority of people on the internet. Elsewhere people don’t seem to understand it and are ridiculing SE. At least, on the English speaking side. But the announcement wasn’t aimed at them, so they can shut up.

    Phonetically, Sengoku Ikusa?
