Namco Bandai is cashing in on the Hatsune Miku craze too by including one of her songs in Taiko no Tatsujin Dororon! The Great Yokai Battle. The upcoming Nintendo DS game features “Melt” and a dancing Hatsune Miku in the background.

Chiptunes band YMCK is also in Taiko no Tatsujin Dororon! The Great Yokai Battle with “Sweets Detective”, a TV theme song.

You can’t have a Taiko no Tatsujin game without something from The [email protected] so Namco Bandai threw in “relations.”

Taiko no Tatsujin Dororon! The Great Yokai Battle also has songs from Ponyo, Kamen Rider W, and Pokemon Diamond and Pearl plus beat tapping ghost battles. The game comes out in Japan on July 1.

  • Why do I want this so much?

  • Argh.

  • Would be nice to have a full iphone taiko no tatsuji game on the iphone rather than having partial release.

How does the Miku license work? I thought Sega had it.

    • Copyright of Miku’s character (and the other Vocaloids shown in the screen cap) are copyrighted by Crypton Future Media, but you’re allowed to use her image/name with Crypton’s permission. The software itself is like any synth program, and the song rights belong with the composer (or the company). In this case, you have to get permission from Crypton, ryo of supercell, and probably Sony Music (the label that hold supercell’s music)

  • I’m glad they included the other Crypton Vocaloids, it’s not surprising considered Taiko no Tatsujin’s love affair with Idolmaster. Ymck is a cool addition too!
