Phantasy Star Portable 2 Heading To North America This Fall

By Spencer . May 21, 2010 . 10:48am

Prepare for a trip to the Gurhal system. Sega is bringing Phantasy Star Portable 2 stateside.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 takes place three years after the Phantasy Star Universe saga. The Seed is no longer a threat, but resources are dwindling, in other words online adventurers are needed. Phantasy Star Portable 2 supports ad-hoc play popularized by Monster Hunter Freedom. Rangers and hunters an ocean apart can link up through infrastructure mode.

The publisher confirmed the PSP game for a fall release, but hasn’t said anything about the Pizza Hut, Famitsu, and Resonace of Fate items.

I’m looking forward to this. Any word on if the WiFi is going to be subscription based? That has always held me back from playing any Phantasy Star, online. I really hope it isn’t cause a I really wanna play this with an old friend of mine who I used to play PSO on the game cube with, and he doesn’t live anywhere near me anymore.

I don’t really care about the Pizza Hut or Famitsu items, but I hope they bring the Resonance of Fate items into the game.

If you mean the infrastructure/online compatibility? The japanese version connected via psn so i imagine this one will as well…..

Yea, but the 360 Phantasy Star Universe used Live and still had a monthly fee for Online, so that’s what I’m worried about.

because it’s a portable system, they won’t charge you fees ….. trust me, i used to play the japanese version all the time and all it took was a psn account

    • Like PSU but with 4 players via Ad hoc or Infrastructure. Close or far.

Yeah, the Pizza Hut and Famitsu stuff would be cool, but they’re not that big of a deal. The Resonance of Fate stuff is likely since SEGA also published it in English.

Wasnt there also a Hatsune Miku costume? I wonder if they’ll be able to keep that in? It would be pretty cool if they could.

    I’m getting it.

Nice, I already traded back the first so I can’t wait for this one.

I hope the save file will work with Valkyria Chronicles 2 when it comes to the US to get the special things, that would be nice.

  • holyPaladin

    Yes Sega bring it!

And I hope they keep Japanese content although most likely not… =(
