Sonic Colors Painting Its Way To DS And Wii

Shortly after finding the trademark, Sega unveiled Sonic Colors. The “colors” bit refers to the Wisps, a colorful alien race that Dr. Eggman captured. These Wisps also give Sonic color powers which let the hedgehog drill through the ground or zip through a stage like a laser. Sonic Colors features an amusement park-like world and the concept of this game seems to be a speedy theme park ride you can play.

Sega says Sonic Colors seamlessly blends 2D and 3D gameplay on the Wii. The Nintendo DS version uses both screens. Sonic Colors is scheduled to come out this winter in North America.

imageOriginal story: Sonic the Hedgehog 4 may not be the only Sonic game in development at Sega. I scanned the USPTO and found a trademark for Sonic Colors filed by none other than Sega.

Rights for Sonic Colors only extend to computer game programs and video game software. That narrows it down and let’s us know Sega isn’t planning a super secret line of Sonic the Hedgehog coloring books.

So what is Sonic Colors? We want to know, but will probably have to wait until E3 to find out.

Sonic Unleashed sequel with just days stages OMG…. nah I bet its just a Wiiware drawing game for little kids.

    • SeventhEvening

looks like your first guess wasn’t far off the mark

      • Mazen

Yeah, I hope its as fun as unleashed HD version day stages.

        • Guest

Whats the difference between HD day stages and Wii day stages?

          • Mazen

They are very very different its like another game ask in gamefaqs Unleshed board or other places for details.

          • Guest

It looked exactly the same to me but just in HD when I followed the game back before it was released but ok.

  • malek86

The press release says it’s a game for Wii and DS. The official site should be active pretty soon.

    I dunno, I don’t think I want to know more about Sonic Colors.(Sorry, I had to—haha.)
Edit: Aww! Thanks a lot for changing the title so my comment doesn’t work anymore, Spencer! >:*(

Reminded of the sticker thing they have now in the UK. Anyway, it’s probably not something like Sonic running through rainbows or coloring levels with his super sonic speed. and a big hearty “LOL” at the Nitro Super Sonic Mouse Pad advertised by Play-Asia :P

    • MisterNiwa

Well, thats the only thing that made this Article interesting.

The Nitro Super Sonic Mouse Pad.. 8D

I’m already cringing at the very notion this might be a storybook Sonic.

For the record, I find Storybook Sonic to be stretching it to overexposure.

    • Serge73

I read somewhere else that someone from Sega said it wasn’t part of the “Storybook series”…

I hope this is more like Secret Rings and less like Black Knight.

    • SeventhEvening

I hope it is more like Unleashed than either, but with no weresonic.

    • malek86

I hope it is more like the running stages of SA2, and with normal controls. I didn’t like Secret Rings too much, but admittedly it might have been much better if they gave you the choice of using a Classic Controller.

      Amen: loved SSR; hated BK.

    • lostinblue

FINALLY, someone who agrees with me on the Secret Rings topic.

      That game was awesome.

  • Kuza21

Sonic has come from being one of the top trademarked Heroes to a mere experiment.

  • evilmoogle

So, The enemy will now taste the rainbow?? skittles for those who get it.I hope, it’s going to be like sonic rush.
