Tecmo Koei announc—wait, Tecmo Koei already announced Fist of the North Star for Europe. Back in March, it was scheduled for summer game.

The nuclear holocaust must be running late because Tecmo Koei Europe sent out another press release which pegs Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage for fall.

Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage not only pays homage to the brutal beat ‘em ups we all grew up loving, but it also tells the story of Ken’s quest in a world of chaos”, Will Curley, VP of Sales and Marketing at Tecmo Koei, proclaimed. The PlayStation 3 / Xbox 360 game also includes an original story and challenge mode, which weren’t mentioned in the announcement.

“This is the reinvention of the beat ‘em up,” Curley closed. We’ll see if our friends in Europe feel the same way when Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage comes out in autumn.

When is the US getting it???

“This is the reinvention of the beat ‘em up,”

    LMAO!

  • kupomogli

Don’t they mean “This is the reinvention of Dynasty Warriors.” After it came out and watching through gameplay videos, I’m now not getting this. It looked so good on the videos they’ve released, but then watching actual gameplay footage it just doesn’t look good at all. First Gundam, now Hokuto no Ken. How many more of my favorite series are you going to ruin in video game format Koei. Go on. Release Evangelion Warriors, Lupin the Third Warriors, or Ninja Scroll Warriors. I know you want to.

I think it would’ve actually been better if they did a Final Fight-esque game, 2.5D like Shadow Complex, the old Fist of the North Star games were like that anyway. I know the nostalgia factor got all the fans, me included, really riled up, but after I’ve seen the videos and remembering Gundam Musou, I’m not interested in this game.. Not sure about the others, but I thought they showed a video of “Troy” Musou even before First of the North Star. At least you can count on them bringing Hokuto Musou 2. I know I might be too critical, but no Kamiya Akira (the original Kenshiro) is a big minus for me alrdy, even though Konishi is a cool VA…

Try actually playing the game before you right it off. I did. And coming from someone who has played a slew of beat em ups including most of the drab DW games, this IS a refreshing take on that since its NOT about button mash spamming like those are and because so, ends up being very fun actually.

      • kupomogli

You can watch a video and it’s obvious how bad it is. After watching Gundam Dynasty Warriors videos I still played it and hated it. The only thing that has changed has been the sprites, the formula is the exact same.

        • cowcow

Bullcrap. The game play is totally different. In DW and even Gundam, the point is having an overpowered 1 vs 1000 type spamming character so all you have to do is button mash and the pace is very fast because of that.
In this game, Kenshiro’s motions are much slower, so it is more remnicsent of classic beat em ups like Streets of Rage, Final Fight, X-Men Arcade in that you have to strategize and pick your shots. A.I. is more demanding at times because the bigger ones at times need to be hit with certain Musou attacks as they have iron defense that activates certain times. There is also QTE style attacks, using the environment as weapons, destructable areas etc etc
totally different so stop assuming by watching and arguing against someone who’s actually PLAYED it

      • BrotherCavil

We *have* tried the game before.

About 30 times. Anything that has anything to do with “Warriors” or “Musuo” is the same damn game with a slight makeshift.

For you this game is “Already Dead”…..

Sorry, I’ve been waiting to say that for so long :)

    Ken’s Rage sounds odd.

But at least they are promoting it in ‘some’ way. It’s sad how Koei Tecmo’s European arm is better at PR than Nintendo. Samurai Warriors 3, published by Nintendo, came out yesterday in Europe. Not a single ad or PR e-mail to gaming sites.

  • DerrickDnaruto

Is there no hope for a U.S release?
