Wii Party Sets Sail For July

By Spencer . June 2, 2010 . 5:06am

imageWii owners hankering for another “party” game can look forward to Wii Party. The game, which first appeared in a Nintendo financial presentation, is sailing to stores on July 8.

Nintendo hasn’t said much about Wii Party, but a screenshot hints at what kind of games are in the collection. Look forward to Bingo, Roulette, Sugoroku (board game), Mii compatibility checks, the overseas travel game, and “balance ship.”

I won’t say I’m excited. Out of all the Nintendo efforts on the Wii, this seems one of the most half-hearted. I mean, roulette and bingo? At least Wii Music had an original idea behind it.That doesn’t mean it won’t sell a crapload though. Actually, I’m 100% sure it will.

This game may or may not be lame, but I don’t think just reading the words “roulette” and “bingo” tells us anything. I would tend to doubt that these are straight forward roulette and bingo games. That wouldn’t be fun, except perhaps for desperate gamblers. Which isn’t to say that this won’t turn out to be lame, just that I’m not ready to write it off yet. Also, WiiMusic didn’t sell well.

Wii Music did sell well (1 million I think? or some where around there), just not Wii line well (most Wii line products sell over 4 million).

I’d say “Wii Party Sets Fail for July”, but okay.
