Eyes On Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D – The Naked Sample

3DS_MGS3D_03ss03_E3The Nintendo 3DS area at E3 was packed with proof of concept movies and the most impressive one was Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D – The Naked Sample.

Konami took scenes from the PlayStation 2 game and applied the Nintendo 3DS magic to them. This wasn’t a playable game, but you could control the camera with the slide pad. Changing the perspective would make different objects pop out of the background. A tree’s branches, for example, would leap out of the screen if you rotated at the right example.

In another scene, Snake dodges falling rocks which jump out at the viewer. Other neat 3D effects were a waving crocodile’s tail and floating 3D leaves.

My favorite scene from The Naked Sample was when a masked soldier dropped his cigarettes. The operative reached into the trees and towards the screen to grab them. A hand reached out and dirt stuck to the screen. Snake snuck under the guard, grabbed the smokes, and put them in the soldier’s hand.

While it was only a video with camera control, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D – The Naked Sample was simply amazing.

I agree, Naked Sample was incredibly cool. Out of the demos I had time to watch/try out, this is the one that has me the most excited about the potential of the 3DS.

  • Man, 3DS… it is already shaping up- no! Already has shapen up – to top the competition.

I hope my favourite PSP devs move over to this.

i dont know. watching the rest of the games that developers are making for 3ds there are many differences between them, the graphics look great in this MG but in others they look like psp games. i preffer to be realistic and wait for real gameplay, im not convinced about this either resident evil revelartion graphics, that game looks so good that im wondering about the real gameplay.

Yea, really wonder what the actual gameplay graphics is like..

Found this on youtube, pretty cool,

this 3D is even more eye popping lol..

I know, it reminds me of the things on the Shenmue Passport disc where they used all the Dreamcasts power just for one characters head, which looked amazing, but in the real game it was nowhere near that good.

I’ve never bought any single system day one. Always took my time to see what each gadget had what to offer.

Time to make that exception I guess… The 3DS is a day one purchase.

    Resident Evil looked better, no?
