Namco Bandai Counting Down To Idolm@ster News

By Spencer . June 22, 2010 . 12:12pm

imageIdol@master fans, Namco Bandai has news for you… in about eleven days. The Idol@master home page has a popup teasing the birth of the Idol@master on July 3.

The last Idol@master game was released in October and that was for the Nintendo DS. Idol@master: Live For You, the last Idol@master game for consoles, is two years now. I’d say Japan is due for a new Idol@master game and the Idol@master 5th Anniversary event, which also happens to take place on July 3 would be the perfect place to announce it.

    “The world is all one”

*gasp!* What if they are releasing a game in all territories?

    … ok, that’s unrealistic enough :O

PS3 is region free, that’s good enough for me :D

thats exactly what i thought though, maybe thet will simply do what pentavision did and make an international version; but still sell it only in 1 region, thereby judging the popularity worldwide

There were (credible?) rumors earlier this year about new IM@S games for both Wii and PS3… but with all the 3DS mania, I can’t help but wonder if that’s what we’re getting instead?

Not an official news source, but a fellow Idolm@niac, “domelola”, mentioned about this a couple months back when rumors were first popping up:
“As long as I read the official blog of idolm@ster, at least they are making something… But they haven’t announced officialy anything. Right now, they are collecting questionnaire of the characters on PS home.
The rumor on the web says it comes on PS3 but nothing is sure yet…”
“The concert, 「THE IDOLM@STER 5th ANNIVERSARY The world is all one !!」will be held on 3, 4 July 2010 in Makuhari Messe.
And, they will announce the detail of the new game there.
The ticket is about 75 dollars.
How about trip to Japan to see this concert?”

I suspect if anything, they’ll announce either the last of the 360 DLC (That’s been an expensive enough journey) or they’ll announce what 2 will show up on.

I do wonder if Sony would agree to the terms they got from Microsoft the first time around for the first two idolm@sters…

I think that’s it for the DLC. Last time, there was a new song and two remixes for “Colorful Days” with some costumes.
That’s something interesting about with Sony – they had those Idolm@ster “concerts” on Playstation Home. I thought that was supposed to hint at a IM@S release on PS3, but it was actually in conjunction with promoting the SP games on the PSP.

The last song was “I Want”, the two remixes of Colourful Days, with a the devil costume and a couple of others. I should know – Uh…… I can tell you exactly how many points it cost to get every item in the game… It’s a long story… How does ‘I record at HD’ sound?I can tell you there are a few slots still moving for both the Extend costumes a few bits and pieces that are still missing. Considering that they have been doing a bit of a revival for their older franchises (Taiko DS 1 and 2) I wouldn’t be surprised if a couple more items were in the pipeline as a last burst.Anyway, for most part, I understand significant amounts of money was thrown at both ends over the im@s games, and that was before it proved to be the runaway success it is now. It’s hard to say what will happen now, considering the mainline series was pretty much Namco Bandai’s licence to print money, which means I imagine just about everyone would kill for an exclusive. At the same time, I’m not sure if Namco Bandai intends to stick to a single console this time around.
