A New BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Challenger Coming Via DLC [Update]Famitsu has the scoop on BlazBlue: Continuum Shift’s downloadable content plans and introduced Makoto Nanaya in this week’s issue. She’s a brand new character and standing left of Noel in the screenshot.

Fans craving a character with a puffy tail can download Makoto on August 5. v-13- who was replaced by Λ-11- in BlazBlue: Continuum Shift will also appear as downloadable content at some point. Key details like how much each character will cost were not announced in the magazine.

We’ll ping Aksys about Makoto and see if they have anymore details. BlazBlue: Continuum Shift comes out in North America on July 27, a few weeks after the game comes to consoles in Japan.

Update: Aksys posted a FAQ confirming Makoto needs to be purchased. Neither publisher announced how much she costs, though.

    Yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes.

Now all we need is Jubei and Valkenhayn, and the circle will be complete.

  • Xien12

The circle will still be incomplete, yunno. We need Jubei, Valkenhayn, Platinum, and Nine to make it somewhat of a full circle, whatever that is. Though in Nine's case, she'd have to be magically resurrected somehow.

if i'm not mistaken then that completes noel's only friends in the academy

  • TheCleaningGuy

None oF these characters are Kokonoe. I am saddened.

  • Advent_Andaryu

This is awesome! I'm glad they are adding even more characters to the roster, I would glady pay for DLC if it was for new characters!

Only 33 more days til launch! I'm still saddened that North America won't be getting a Limited Edition.

  • andref

supposedly many think two more characters are yet to be revealed

rar, did not expect!! Hooray, Makoto, sure she's not Jubei, Kokonoe, or Valkenhayn — but this gives me hope >w<! easily the best news all day! I mean on one hand I'm not crazy about her being DLC — but on the other hand I'm just really happy to see additional characters in one of my favorite fighters >w<~!

  • Melty

It's good to see BlazBlue getting more playable characters, I really hope Kokonoe will be added eventually.

  • Firo_Prochainezo

I honestly think she wasn't needed. Needed in the story maybe, but not as an actual character like that. Hazama, Tsubaki, and Mu were enough for a 39.99 purchase.

I'd gladly have Valkynhyn instead of her.

  • DemonicX

Good, but still waiting for Kokonoe.

This is kinda cool. I hope she gets the full storymode treatment and isn't just a versus character. I will gladly pay for an actual character. Didn't pay for any of the colors, but a character? Hells yeah.

  • xking2

    Remember what the trailer said?
    7 new characters..

    Hazama
    Tsubaki
    Lamba

rar, it better be Jubei >w<! Also I don't remember this trailer? saying 7 characters? source?

  • http://twitter.com/robertweizer Rand Travis

pretty sure at this point platinum being a Hero is a rumor

  • BrotherCavil

  • Nekobo

Dat ass (like in the comic)

Tonfas…i can't wait to see how she fights/try her out for myself!

Thanks for the link. Now I know I'll be getting it in October. Bring it on!

  • Ujn Hunter

If these DLC characters are just Unlock codes for Disc based content, I'll be super pissed.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1472407455 Charles Lupula

There are never enough characters. If it was only the three new characters, I don't think I would have pre-ordered the game, as I already paid the $60 for the Calamity Trigger. Blazblue was a great game, but it didn't have enough characters. Adding only three more is not really a great improvement. When I saw the trailer that said 7 characters, I decided it that was a bit better.

From what I've read, the characters are going to be patched in, as they weren't ready in time to be put on the disc. So, yeah, you'd be purchasing an unlock code, technically (since, otherwise, other people couldn't play against you if they didn't buy the character), but the characters will not be on the disc.

  • Ujn Hunter

That's fine with me… it makes perfect sense to offer them as a required patch… I just don't like being nickel and dimed for things that should have been in the game in the first place if they were on the disc.

  • Xien12

Well, yeah, but that doesn't change the fact that those characters aren't playable… yet.

  • Firo_Prochainezo

I paid 80 dollars (Canadian) to get the copy myself, and I think it honestly needed maybe 2 or 3 at best. I still play the game online to this day.

And more characters don't mean a better game. More variety, yes, but unlike with SSF4 with just moveset changes, buffs and nerfs, and 10 (Not really) new characters, BB:CS is a complete overhaul of the gameplay.

Everything about the game changed. Defense Libra replaced, 2 different types of bursts, Moveset changes, and so on. Even then, with 3 brand new characters, and only at 40 bucks, I honestly think it's a great deal.

And hey, it was the first BB game. First GG game had 10 or 11. It's still only the beginning.

So all three girls from the story mode now fights. I like it.
