White Knight Chronicles 2 Requires GeoNet License For Online PlayWhile online play was free for new and used copies of White Knight Chronicles, Sony appears to be shifting their strategy for White Knight Chronicles: Awakening of Light and Darkness. A leaked package shot of the sequel reveals a GeoNet license, a product code players have to activate before logging online.

New copies of White Knight Chronicles: Awakening of Light and Darkness come with a one-time use code. Buy a used copy and you’ll have to pay extra to play online. GeoNet licenses can be purchased from the PlayStation Store, but the jacket doesn’t say how much a license will cost.

Well, I guess if it's still free for people who buy it new, then I don't have a problem with it.

I'm leaning somewhere around ¥1,100. If they do thise in U.S. $10 considering this allows you online play of not 1 full, but question from 2 full games. :) Loving how WKC1+2 are packaged together.

Well, I don't understand how anyone who buys new would have a problem with this unless they have no clue how to use a Redeem Code. By now, anyone who actually does preorder on anything on PS3 should be familiar with the Redeem Code system.

Wonder if they got the idea from EA.

I haven't been yet but this could have been discussed at GDC and only a few companies are moving forward with it. There usually are a few things that get touched on at GDC and im waiting to see what happens with those ideas.

well I buy most of my games new, so no problems here

That's a one time activation right? Because I'm cool with that. I'm not cool if the license expires and makes me pay for it monthly or yearly.

I'm glad I waited. I had a chance to pick the first one up at $30 when I read the news that both games were included in the same package.

It'll be quite awhile before the next one comes out, but good things come to those who wait. Unfortunately I just picked up Heavy Rain a week ago for $35 at Kmart and right after I picked it up Sony announced they were going to rerelease Heavy Rain with Move compatibility and the additional content.
