R-Type Command II Coming To North America In A Bittersweet Way

By Spencer . June 24, 2010 . 5:02am

image Atlus picked up R-Type Command from Irem, localized it, and published the PSP title in North America. Nothing has been said about the sequel, R-Type Tactics II: Operation Bitter Chocolate, but it appears the game is heading overseas without help from Atlus.

The ESRB rated R-Type Command II for PSP with Irem as the publisher. That’s odd since Irem doesn’t have an office in North America. Perhaps, Irem is beginning to distribute their PSP games on their own via PlayStation Network. If that’s the case, I wonder who is localizing R-Type Command II and when Disaster Report 3, which was released half a year before R-Type Command II, will get a proper English version.

  • *Here’s to hoping for an actual UMD release*

rar, yay more R-Type! Although the original game was fun, and I love all those little ships >w< it was seriously the 2nd half really put me off from how devious the computer was — not FFT Chocobo's devious, but still pretty high up there.

I remember seeing Playstation Home giving out Disaster Report 3 t-shirts in the IREM space. I thought that was a good sign for a release, but then I noticed that the actual design on the shirt still said the Japanese name of the series. In the end, I think they just basically made available everything from the Japanese IREM space and did a rudimentary localization of the names.

  • Wait… there is a Disaster Report 3?! I must have this! Also… R-Type Tactics II better get a UMD release! Or I’ll be a sad puppy.

I really, really want Disaster Report 3. Or Raw Danger 2, Or whatever terrible name they want to give it.

I’ll play it. I Loved the first two.
