imageRemember that Lord of Arcana trademark we dug up a year ago? This is what it’s for.

Famitsu revealed Lord of Arcana, a multiplayer action game for PSP. An info box says its slated for this year. That’s about it for now. Scans are surfacing, so we’ll update this with information as we get it.

Update: Looks like Lord of Arcana is Square Enix’s take on Monster Hunter. Players create a slayer, a customizable warrior who sets out to fight beasts. He can get quests and drop off items at Kariyoport, which has hunting staples like a guild. Another scan shows the slayer battling monsters in a fire cave and desert. Lord of Arcana is scheduled to come out later this year.

They are looking for trouble if they release this one not far from MHP3rd…

Sounds like something Atlus would call a Card based shin megami tensei :O

Looks pretty cool, but I just hope this not a pay to play type of game.

“Looks like Lord of Arcana is Square Enix’s take on Monster Hunter” = Automatic loss of interest.

I was really hoping this was some shape or form of Lord of Vermillion…but…fail, SE. :< Fail.

Admittedly not that interested, Square is keeping me at a distance lately for one reason or another. If nothing else though I’ll approve for the sake of competition and pressure on Capcom to make the best Monster Hunter games it can.

This is going to sound odd, but try Nier. It feels like an overambitious SNES Squaresoft RPG that got lost and wound up on modern consoles with a hermaphrodite and an identity crisis… in a good way. It’s one of my surprise favorites of 2010. It’s curiously refreshing for a square-published game.

rar, I’ve definitely looked at Nier off and on — even if I’ve been sort of put off at Square lately, I still watch there titles form a safe distance >ww<'

Nier’s a very rough diamond hidden amongst piles of coal and horseshit.I’m really hoping they do something more with the name in the near future, cause as it stands, a little more polish, and they’ll have themselves a real gem.

But yeah – definitely worth checking out.

This looks amazing! The logo reminds me of Lord of Vermilion which is what I thought it was at first… I wonder if it could be related some how?
