Capcom Has “No Plans” To Localize Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star

By Spencer . July 2, 2010 . 10:29am

imageUsually, Japan gets a new Mega Man Star Force game during the holidays and Capcom USA releases it in North America during the summer. That was the pattern for a few years and Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star is about to break it.

In this game, ClockMan, a new Net Navi, sends Geo Stellar from Mega Man Star Force back in time to the first Mega Man Battle Network game. You play as Lan and revisit the events in Mega Man Battle Network 1 with the addition of Geo. Since this Nintendo DS game is an expanded port there isn’t too much to localize, but it doesn’t look like this game is Capcom’s to do list.

Christian Svensson, Vice President of Strategic Planning & Business Development, shot down hopes twice. First in January and more recently in June. “Sorry guys, there are no plans for this to happen at this time,” Svensson wrote on the Capcom forums while responding to fan requests for Operate Shooting Star.

  • Understandeable, im a big fan of all these games, but i wouldnt really buy a port of the first one, with just Geo appearing, and just some new attacks added, it wont change how the game ends anyway, i do hope they localize the next starforce though

I think Capcom USA is finally noticing that EXE/Star Force has been overstaying its welcome something fierce for like five years now.

The first EXE game was something new – something fresh. I liked it. But now, the sheer number of sequels and spinoffs is making me hate it more than Kingdom Hearts. Time for something new.

    • This is the first spinoff of these series (i dunno if i can consider the gamecube one a spinoff, but well, i dont xD), i dont mind all the sequels though, i like the characters and art, and if they keep releasing them here, it means it sells, if not, they should had stoped in the 4th or 5th lol

I’m not really surprised. It didn’t sell all that great in Japan, maybe because it’s a little too soon for people to get excited about a port like this.

  • Damn, I was looking forward to this one

  • YoFace

Yea I figured as much since it didn’t show up on their E3 list.

Oh well. The first MMBN was my favorite, thus was hoping this would’ve made its way here. And I lost my GBA copy…

  • deltazero

Meh, I am happy enough with my copy of BN1. Not that OSS was much different anyway, aside from the LITTLE content they tacked on. Better they spend their time/resources in localizing a new game, rather than spending it on OSS.

  • maxchain

This is because the fans throw a mass tantrum whenever anything that’s not an 8-bit game or Zero comes over here, isn’t it?

  • urbanscholar

Oh, well excuse me while I express my feelings on this decision: Booo!
