New PlayStation 3 Model Packs 320 GB Hard Drive

New PlayStation 3 Model Packs 320 GB Hard DriveSony announced a new slim PlayStation 3 model for Japan. Charcoal black console model CECH-2500B has a 320GB hard drive built in and costs 34,980 yen ($399).

 

Sony is also preparing 160GB PlayStation 3s in black and classic white. Each one of these has a suggested retail price of 29,980 yen ($341). It seems like these models will replace the 120GB PlayStation 3, which will switch to “open” pricing in Japan starting on July 7.

 

These new PlayStation 3s and a terrestrial digital recorder pack with Torne hit stores on July 29.

    The ceramic white looks sleek, this would've been perfect for me as I didn't like the Pink Lightning LE, too bad I alrdy have the blk Slim.. Do they even have the white vertical stand yet? (they really should include that piece of plastic..)

    Wow, that white one is pretty hot. I just bought a PS3 not too long ago though, and I doubt Sony will bother bringing it across the ocean.

    And the drives get larger and larger……rules of technology aside, 250 and 320GB 'base' models only make practical sense if much wider selections of last gen and even this gen retail release titles become download possibilities.

    Urgh….I bought a black slim about 7 months ago. All my Sony consoles are Ceramic White except for the PS3. But I don't think I can justify getting another one….

    Looks slick, not that I would import one but slick none the less. I highly doubt SCEA or SCEE will be releasing these in the west. Though if they did I would gladly pony up for one, there has always just been something with white PlayStation products for me. I don't know why because I am more of a black console person and I like my portables to be colors, but I have always liked PlayStation's in white.

    I don't know why this is such an issue for people? Even if you don't have the physical space for multiple consoles to be set up you bought a PS3 for PS3 games. I am more interested in HD remakes like the Sly and GoW coll, as no amount of scaling can make PS2 games looks that good. Playing last gen games on HDTVs leaves much to be desired and thats why I just don't care about backwards compatibility, if I want to play PS2 games I hoo up my PS2 and play them as they were originally intended.
