Today is a special day for Dragon Quest, as it marks the worldwide release of Dragon Quest XI on PS4 and PC. To commemorate the occasion, Square Enix shared a special interview with creator Yuji Horii.
Following a message for the fans, Yuji Horii answers some questions from fans across social media starting with one that asks about the writing process for a Dragon Quest game, and what is the first part that is worked out from the world, story, or if it’s a combination of both. The next question asks about his inspiration behind the heartfelt and sad quests in the game, and if he feels that it’s important for players to get emotionally attached to even minor NPCs.
Dragon Quest XI releases worldwide today, September 4, 2018, on PlayStation 4 and PC. The game is readily available in Japan for PS4 and 3DS. The Nintendo Switch version is currently in development, and we might get a first look sometime this month around Tokyo Game Show 2018.
