Five Minutes Of Final Fantasy XIV Emotes

By Spencer . July 14, 2010 . 3:39pm

The way to celebrate a victorious MMORPG boss fight is with a bathroom break and emotes. Square Enix created a couple of emotes in Final Fantasy XIV that would fit the occasion. You can make a female Hyuran clap her hands, dance in a circle or cry to mourn the death of the monster.

I did that a few times while playing Final Fantasy XI just to confuse my party. I think I’ll go with the slugging motion in Final Fantasy XIV.

Wow, her expressions look really detailed.
As someone who doesn’t play MMOs though, I can’t help but to wonder how much you actually use this?

Surprisingly often, if FFXI is any indication. Seriously, they’re actually quite frequent.

I am so super excited for this game. Really can not wait to get it in 2 months!

*is playing XI right now wishing it was XIV…….*

I hope nobody over at Square Enix thinks themselves clever for the race’s name.

      I feel like I’m missing a joke…

I’m really impressed with how natural (if a little exaggerated) her movements and facial expressions were. Never played an MMO, but if this is good, maybe I’ll make the plunge…scary.

    2:14 …huh?
The expressions are interesting. The movements of the eyebrows and lips makes quite a difference! I actually don’t notice these details while playing most games (Deadly Premonition comes to mind, though).
I love the “deep in thought” expression.

Found it a little creepy how she quickly changed expression from whatever the emote was to her regular :| Was the worst when it was a shocked or scared emote. Just made it look a bit unnatural for her to go from OoO to :|

Choosing the emotes reminds me of my experiences in Playstation Home (never played FF11). I wish Home had this many.
