Professor Layton and his sidekick Luke time travel to Future London in Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. And you’ll be able to visit that future a week earlier. Nintendo bumped up Professor Layton and the Unwound Future from September 20 to September 12.

The third game in this Professor Layton trilogy begins with Future Luke sending a note to his past self. Once Layton and Luke arrive in the future the have a new set of puzzles to solve… over 165 of them. Stumped players can get three hints and finally a superhint, a new feature in Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, which points players to a solution.

Like previous Professor Layton titles, Professor Layton and the Unwound Future also has weekly downloadable brainteasers available over Nintendo Wi-Fi.

  • They should punish players who rely too much on superhints.

    • Why? As I see it, the game is really accessible because you have the hint option. That way both an absolute puzzle fanatic and more casual gamers can enjoy it, I’d say it is one of the reasons why it sells so well.

If you want to punish them that much, how about taking away picarates?

      • I meant that those who use it excessively would be told to think a little on their own. Anyone who uses them too often in early puzzles should be reminded that it won’t get any easier.

I’d rather they take their time but hey, it’s Professor Layton! Can’t complain.

I don’t know who “Future Like” is, but I can’t wait to see Future Luke.

Awesome. It’s great that they are now speeding up the releases. Hope we get the first game in the second trilogy before 3DS release as well.

I will be glad if Layton 4 was to be realesed before the 3DS but it sound unlikely to me, there would be less than 6 months between 2 Layton againts of a year like usual.

  • Will the people of the future have glasses and canisters with scales on them?
