Another Look At Dimps’ Take On Sonic Colors

By Spencer . July 15, 2010 . 8:25pm

Two different studios are handling Sonic Colors. Sonic Team is developing the Wii version and Dimps, the creators of Sonic Rush and Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1, are making the Nintendo DS game.

While Sonic Colors is a werehog-less follow up to Sonic Unleashed on Wii, the Nintendo DS game looks more like classic Sonic. Looks like good old 2D Sonic with 3D boss fights.

rar, I’ve had to put my foot down when it comes to Sonic games, I don’t buy them before reading a review, because I’ve been burned a few times. But I have to say Sega has figured out a way around my strategy… THIS HAThttp://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/Sonic_C…I think companies have realized my greatest weakness, silly preorder gifts.

All the DS and GBA games were like old school sonic though…I don’t understand why people sound so surprised all the time. The old Sonic has been around forever just on hand helds and not consoles. The second Sonic Rush did add some stupid stuff to do before actually getting to the levels but the first was pure sonic and so were the GBA games. This is basically Sonic Rush 3.

I am looking forward to Sonic Colors. So far looks fun and the visuals really impressed me at E3.

Awesome! Sonic Rush was great. The sequel was kind of weird with the whole boat system, but the actual gameplay was still solid. This one looks to be continuing the trend of old-school Sonic awesomeness

If this one is as fun as the first Sonic Rush we’re in for a treat. I like how this is an all original game, and how these screenshots show so many stage specific gimmicks.

Someone should hire better artists though. 16bit Mario and Sonic games shouldn’t look better than New Super Mario Bros and Sonic Colors, but they do.

I’ve been wondering, how different are the Wii and DS versions? Same story but different levels? Or Same levels but different level designs? Or similar level designs just one plays in 3D and the other in 2D?
