New Jake Hunter Game Announced For JapanArc System Works and Workjam have another game starring Jinguji Saburo better known as Jake Hunter in the West.

Jake Hunter: Red Butterfly follows the hardboiled detective as he investigates a bombed building. It seems the suspect calls him or herself “Red Butterfly”. Jake Hunter: Red Butterfly is slated for September 30 in Japan.

Aksys, a publisher with a tight relationship with Arc System Works, brought over one Jake Hunter game… twice. They’re testing the market for visual novels again with 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors too. Perhaps, one day they’ll give the Jake Hunter series another look.

I know there’s no real market for these games in America (Europe, perhaps) or anything, but I’m still glad Aksys is testing the waters. They’ve been pretty bold with their release schedule lately.

…That Mimana Iyar game was kind of unfortunate, though. I would’ve left that one overseas m’self, but I guess it must have some demographic I’m not part of even as someone who liked Crimson Gem Saga.

Aren’t the Jake Hunter games generally speaking like the Ace Attorney games but less funny?

You say that like it’s a problem.

I loved the updated JH, bring this one too Aksys. Will buy.

Damn straight. I don’t get the Jake Hunter hate.

Speaking of the updated Jake Hunter. That one was no where to be found, while the first butchered release is everywhere. Which is really too bad because I was thinking of giving it a try. I also like Detective stories. :3

Aren’t there short chapters of Jake Hunter for the DSi in Japan? I was hoping those would come over.

It’s really hard to make games like these seem “exciting” huh…..

It looks exciting to me. I love these hardbroiled detective stories.
